Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a volunteer, facilitator, or community mobilizer in the NGO sector, preferably in GBV, child protection, or psychosocial support activities.
• Resident of the host community in Cox’s Bazar who is familiar with the local context.
• Good communication skills in Bangla; ability to communicate in Rohingya or Chittagonian is an advantage.
• Ability to work respectfully with women, girls, boys, men, community leaders, and persons with disabilities.
• Willingness to attend orientation and training sessions provided by the project.
• Willingness to work in camps and host communities as per the session schedule.
• Ability to work independently and as a team player, in a sensitive and participatory manner.
• Works with trustworthiness and integrity and has a clear commitment to FIVDB’s core values and humanitarian principles.
• Has awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity.
• Commitment to safeguarding, humanitarian principles, and the dignity, safety, and well-being of survivors and communities.
Key Area 1: Session Support & Facilitation
• Support the GBV Officer in conducting structured GBV prevention sessions for Rohingya children and adults using approved modules and guidelines.
• Assist in facilitating group psychosocial support sessions, life-skills activities, and stress-management activities for women, girls, boys, men, and community members.
• Help to prepare session venues, materials, and participant lists, and ensure the session space is safe, private, and welcoming.
• Use age-, gender-, and disability-appropriate approaches, and culturally appropriate and conflict-sensitive language during sessions.
• Support translation and interpretation between Bangla, Chittagonian, and Rohingya where needed, ensuring the meaning of messages is not changed.
• Promote positive gender norms, positive coping strategies, resilience, and community-based support mechanisms.
Key Area 2: Community Engagement & Awareness
• Mobilize participants for sessions in coordination with community leaders, CiCs, Mahjis, women leaders, and outreach workers.
• Engage respectfully with community leaders, women’s groups, parents, and adolescents to reduce stigma around GBV and mental health.
• Support early identification of signs of distress and risk among session participants and community members.
• Share project information and service availability with the community in a clear and respectful way.
Key Area 3: Safe Referral & Confidentiality
• Do not conduct counselling, interviews, or investigation of GBV or child protection incidents; respond with basic Psychological First Aid (PFA) principles only.
• Report any disclosure, distress, or safety concern immediately to the GBV Case Worker and GBV Officer, and do not share survivor information with anyone else.
• Support safe referral of individuals to GBV, MHPSS, health, child protection, and other services through the established referral pathway, with the informed consent of the individual.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and respect the dignity, safety, and choices of survivors and participants at all times.
Key Area 4: Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate attendance sheets and session records without collecting identifying information about survivors.
• Submit weekly activity updates to the GBV Case Worker and GBV Officer, highlighting participation, community feedback, challenges, and concerns.
• Share field observations and community feedback to support programme learning, following “do no harm” principles and informed consent.
Key Area 5: : Capacity Development
• Attend orientation, training, and refresher sessions on GBV guiding principles, PFA, safeguarding, PSEA, child safeguarding, and referral pathways.
• Receive on-the-job coaching and support from the GBV Officer.
• Practice self-care and inform the supervisor if emotional support is needed.
Key Area 6: Safeguarding, Ethics & Accountability
• Uphold FIVDB’s safeguarding, PSEA, child safeguarding, and Code of Conduct policies at all times.
• Ensure session spaces are safe for children and adults, and never be alone with a child or participant in a private setting.
• Immediately report safeguarding concerns, ethical dilemmas, or risks in line with organizational procedures.
• Promote accountability, respect, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with participants, communities, and colleagues.
• Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.
