Job Context:
∎ Community Mobilizer - Strengthening Forecast-based Early Actions in Cyclone Prone coastal region in Bangladesh (STEP)
∎ Reports to: Project Officer and Manager
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Organize meeting to orient the project activities at community level
∎
∎ Organize meeting with the community people to orient the project activities at field level
∎ Closely work with the community based organizations to orient the project approaches and strategy
∎ Closely work with the community people to create awareness on cyclone preparedness and disaster risk reduction
∎ Implement the project activities at unions and community level
∎
∎ Select the community based volunteer and capacity building to work closely with the vulnerable community people.
∎ Assist to organize community and union level meeting with the support of community based volunteer.
∎ Mobilize CBOs (Women committee, youth groups and adolescent clubs) to create a culture of preparedness at community level through meetings, training and workshops.
∎ Assist to develop the capacity of Shelter Management Committee (SMCs) on shelter readiness to face shock and stress
∎ Organize training for the capacity building of DMCs, CBOs and local stakeholders to develop risk informed early action plan at local level.
∎ Support community level relevant stakeholders to establish networking and promoting risk informed forecast based early action protocol at local level.
∎ Organize dissemination workshop at union and community level.
∎ Select the beneficiaries to implement the small-scale FbF option (Pilot financing) to test the effectiveness of the forecast based early action system.
∎ Assist to collect the information and data from the field
∎ Assist to develop the report of the project.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years' experience in the development field specially in DRR projects
∎ Basic knowledge on disaster management system at local
∎ Experience in group formation, group meeting, community meeting and community mobilization
∎ Good team member and rapport building skill with the community people and union parishad.
∎ Experience working within the NGO context at a field level.
∎ Experience in data and collection from filed
∎ Experience to work in hard to reach areas in coastal areas of Bangladesh.
∎ Willingness to drive bi-cycle or local transport in remote areas.
