Job Context:
∎ Drowning is a leading cause of death in Bangladesh but remains as the most neglected public health issue. The Centre for Injury Prevention & Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB), one of the leading public health research organizations in the world, among other interventions has been implementing advocacy initiatives called BHASA and SeaSafe in collaboration with Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Bangladesh and supports from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), UK.
∎ The Phase-I of the project has been successfully implemented and stepping into phase-II for a period of 2020-2023. The aim of the project is to reduce the number of boys and girls who fatally drown in the Barishal division through the effective implementation of the drowning prevention strategy developed during the Phase-I. The SeaSafe project is being implemented in Cox`s Bazar to save lives on the beaches and in-land through lifeguard services for the last five years. The Phase II of project BHASA and SeaSafe have been designed around scaling up the tested intervention of drowning prevention by influencing and communicating the knowledge and evidence through advocacy and communication.
∎ Accordingly, CIPRB has designed interventions under SeaSafe and BHASA engaging government, community leaders, CSOs and NGOs into drowning prevention with a view to scaling up the model through influence towards sustainability. In attaining the vision the CIPRB is seeking for a Communication Specialist to undertake the following:
∎ Job location: Dhaka based with extensive field visit anywhere in Bangladesh especially in Barishal and Cox`s Bazar.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Ensure compliance of activities with project communication strategy by following CIPRB and partner guidelines
∎ Assist in developing key promotional messages in consultation with the project team
∎ Participate in developing and evaluating feasibility, efficiency and quality of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials
∎ Assist in coordinating communication activities and events of the project and partners
∎ Assist in conducting awareness raising campaigns, events, information dissemination workshops, etc. for target groups
∎ Undertake field visits to monitor programme implementation and liaise closely with target groups
∎ Participate in partner visits for showcasing project progress and achievements
∎ Take lead in dissemination of communication materials to relevant stakeholders
∎ Develop case studies, success stories and relevant project documents and suggest recommendations on varied issues (as and when required)
∎ Represent CIPRB in national forums/networks
∎ Publish regular newsletter
∎ Develop e-newsletter and managing e-portal of dissemination
∎ Supervise and monitoring visibility related field activities
∎ Support the advocacy activities.
∎ Other Duties and Responsibilities
∎ The position may be required to perform duties that are beyond the scope of the job description in mutual discussion and agreement with the supervisor.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 40 years
∎ 5-7 years' experience in development communication preferably within the health system with expertise in preparing communication strategy and excellent networks across Bangladesh government and development agencies.
∎ Must have experience of working on Social and Behavioural Change communication;
∎ Commanding knowledge on English and Bangla (both verbal and written);
∎ Capable to maintain tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment;
∎ Experience of developing Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials such as production of TVC, Poster, Leaflet, Brochure, etc;
∎ Experience of drafting Terms of Reference/Agreement for vendors related communication work;
∎ Experience with communication/ creative agencies/ vendors will be added advantage;
∎ Ability to communicate with external audience;
∎ Ability to create new ideas, relationships including creative contributions;
∎ Capable to undertake mass social media campaign through FB, Twitter etc;
∎ Capable to manage process of updating website;
∎ Experience of working with INGOs and government bodies would be an advantage;
∎ Proficient in use of computer applications related to the tasks;
∎ Ability to create new ideas, relationships including creative contributions;
∎ Ability to work in a Team with multiple assignment.
