Job Context:
∎ To provide promotion and support for optimal infant and young child feeding to mothers and careers of children under 2 and minimize the risks of artificial feeding in the emergency context in accordance with agency policy, national policy. He/she will be providing trainings to IYCF counsellor, community health workers/care groups and volunteers.
∎ Duty Station: Ukhiya (Kutupalong Refugee Camp- Camp 3 )
∎ Report To: Nutrition site supervisor
∎ Expected Start Date: 1st April 2022
∎ Contract length: Up to 31st December, 2022 (With possibility of Extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the guidance of the Nutrition site supervisor, the CMAMI/IYCF Nurse will be responsible for-
∎ The IYCF Nurse will be responsible to implement the Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition interventions devised by nutrition sector.
∎ She/he will also promote collaboration and linkages between health facilities and community outreach team through the formation of mother to mother support groups (MtMSGs).
∎ She/he will be responsible for sensitizing the communities and supporting those identified with main problems related to the Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition practices and help them how to address those nutrition problems through appropriate counselling measures.
∎ Implement the activities that ensure the promotion of Maternal infant and young child nutrition targeting the adolescent, pregnant and lactating mother(s), including the implementation of Infant and young child feeding in normal and difficult circumstances.
∎ Implement the activities, which support capacity building and service strengthening, advocacy and social behavioral change communication.
∎ Implementation of counselling and support for appropriate nutrition during adolescence, pregnancy and post-partum period.
∎ Conduct rapid nutrition screening with MUAC.
∎ Implementation of nutrition activities to promote best feeding practices for infants less than six months including the early initiation of breastfeeding within the 1st hour of life, exclusive breastfeeding, Growth monitoring, promotion and counselling.
∎ Implementation of nutrition activities to promote best feeding practices for children 6-23 months including the complementary feeding, continued breastfeeding up to 2 years and beyond.
∎ Establishing mother support groups and mother-baby friendly spaces.
∎ Implementation of nutrition activities to promote best feeding practices for children 24 to 59 months including cooking demonstrations.
∎ Implementation of nutrition activities to promote best feeding practices for infant with HIV, low birth weight and very low birth weight babies and for sick children and for babies with common breastfeeding difficulties.
∎ Support the systematic delivery of Maternal Infant and young Child nutrition and health education messages to the community and facility level.
∎ Compile and submit Maternal Infant and young Child nutrition program weekly, biweekly and monthly report of all activities implemented.
∎ Conduct orientations and trainings to build the capacity of staff/volunteers and the community at large.
∎ Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
∎ Advocacy and communication
∎ Facilitate cross-sectoral programming, particularly to promote excellent communication and referral between IYCF-E, CMAM, health, education and CP programming.
∎ Undertake advocacy targeting other humanitarian actors and local authorities on assessment and following national/international standards on supporting infant and young child feeding in emergencies.
∎ Health & Safety
∎ Comply with established health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances.
