∎ Age at most 45 years
∎ A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in community outreach programme, engaging in the community particularly for the persons with disability, people affected with Leprosy or any other marginalized communities to promote inclusion.
∎ Training & Facilitation: Proven track record of designing & conducting training, facilitating sessions and conducting awareness programmes.
∎ Basic understanding of disability, leprosy, marginalization, human rights, inclusive development.
∎ Basic understanding on rural development landscape/scenario and associated agencies in the context of Bangladesh.
∎ Good communication and facilitation skills.
∎ Good listening and speaking skill.
∎ Must be attentive and a good learner.
∎ Progress monitoring and reporting skills.
∎ Ability to engage with diverse groups, including families, children, and community stakeholders.
∎ Record-keeping and reporting skills in Bangla.
∎ Computer skills: Very Good skills in MS Office applications-word/excel/ power-point presentation, Bangla type and familiar with Internet.
∎ Motorcycle with a valid license is preferred but is not a must.
∎ Having a Smart Phone is a requirement for online data input, when required.
∎ Qualified Persons with disabilities, women and people from indigenous communities will get special consideration based on their qualification and experience.
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ To support the formation and development of youth groups at project location, in consultation with relevant community stakeholders
∎ To support in coordinating meetings of youth clubs with efficiency and effectively engaging all youth club members.
∎ Ensure that sessions and discussions are organized and facilitated, in an inclusive and enabling learning environment and that the quality of these sessions is maintained.
∎ To coordinate in organizing meetings, advocacy workshops, awareness campaigns to promote non-discrimination and enabling environment for youths with disabilities including youths affected by leprosy.
∎ Build strong relationship with health and leprosy actors, including community clinics, sub-district health complex, leprosy corner and other service providers.
∎ Work closely with CBR facilitator and other relevant staff for effective coordination of project activities.
∎ To understand challenges and barriers that youths face due to their disability and leprosy status that prevents their meaningful participation in society.
∎ To build leadership of youths to increase their meaningful participation and enhance empowerment to amplify their voices in the local development.
∎ Collect feedback from the community about the impact of the work in a prescribed format and share the document.
∎ To identify youths and their families to connect them with livelihood opportunities.
∎ To assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports, as required by the project and respective organizations.
∎ To extend support for the safety of youth team members from any harm, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve project outcomes.
∎ Ensure safeguarding, code of conduct and data privacy is maintained as per requirements.
∎ Build relationships and network with Union Councils, and relevant Sub-district offices.
∎ Work closely with Union Councils to include Youths with disabilities and those Youths affected by Leprosy in Ward Meetings, Open Budget and other relevant meetings and to include disability and leprosy agenda in Standing Committee meetings.
∎ Facilitate referrals of youths with leprosy and disabilities to health and other service providers.
∎ Maintain project related information, documents, database and all other information as required by the project. And ensure that this information is updated and can be provided quickly if requested by the organization, Grant Management organization and the back-end funding agency.
∎ Respond to communication including emails as required for the project.
∎ Monitoring and progress tracking at output and outcome level and to produce reports as required.
∎ Maintain a updated data-base of project participants.
∎ Prepare project related documents, including event reports in Bangla and English as required, in MS-Word and prepare presentations in PowerPoint.
∎ Project Title: Meaningful participation of Youths with disabilities (inc. youth affected by leprosy youth with disabilities (inc. youth affected by leprosy) (aged 12-25)
∎ Project Aim: Empowered youth with disabilities (inc. youth affected by leprosy) (aged 12-25) use their voices to meaningfully participate in their surrounding environments in Bangladesh
∎ Job Location: The position is based in Kaharol sub district of Dinajpur and with regular travel to upazila and union level for implementation of project activities smoothly.
∎ Organization Overview:
∎ Dipshikha is a renowned non-governmental organization (NGO) in Bangladesh. Dipshikha was initiated by a group of social workers, school teachers and youth in 1978 in a village called Rudrapur, Dinajpur. Dipshikha is a Bengali word meaning, "Spark of Light". It is a rural development, non-government, non-political, non-profit voluntary organization. Dipshikha- a sparkle, commits itself to poverty alleviation, establishment of equal opportunities, peace and justice by ensuring formational education, appropriate agriculture, hygiene, sanitation, skills promotion and supports for income generation adjustable as time requires for the development of the poor, marginalized and deprived of the rural, semi-urban and urban communities in descending priority. Dipshikha with a team of dedicated, skilled and competent workers cherishes and practices the principles of human dignity, ethical values, participation, team-work, mutual respect and inter-religious harmony with clearly defined policies. Dipshikha is going to implement a project named " Meaningful participation of Youths with disabilities (inc. youth affected by leprosy youth with disabilities (inc. youth affected by leprosy) (aged 12-25) in Dinajpur district which is Financially and Technically supported by the Liliane Fonds-The Netherlands and Centre for Disability in Development (CDD).
∎ Job Overview:
∎ The Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) officer will mainly be responsible for the smooth implementation of the project, bringing together youth with disabilities including youths affected by leprosy at the community to promote their meaningful participation in society. The main tasks of this role are monitoring and progress tracking at output and outcome level, reporting and documentations, communication with supporting agencies, capacity building, mentoring and coaching to youths, engagement with relevant local actors and the community to facilitate an enabling environment for inclusion of the youths with disabilities and those affected by Leprosy. This position will also facilitate and nurture a good relationship with families of identified youths, advocating for an enabling and safe space for youths with disabilities and youths affected by leprosy to combat stigma and discrimination.
