Education:
Bachelor or master degree in agriculture, Agribusiness Management, Business Administration, or related field.
MBA in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Relevant professional certifications will be considered an added advantage, including: PMP (Project Management Professional), CSCM (Certified Supply Chain Manager), Food Safety Certifications (HACCP, ISO 22000), GLOBALG.A.P. or GAP Certification, Certification in Sustainable Agriculture, ESG Management, or Agri-Value Chain Development etc.
Minimum 15–20 years of experience in agribusiness, agriculture value chains, food processing, or similar industries.
At least 5 years of experience in senior leadership or P&L roles.
Proven experience in scaling agribusiness operations and implementing modern agricultural practices.
Strong financial acumen with deep exposure to agricultural supply networks, market dynamics, and forecasting.
Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Job Context
The Business Head – Agribusiness is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the strategic vision of the company’s agribusiness division. This role oversees the full agricultural value chain—from sourcing and production to processing, logistics, and market expansion—ensuring operational excellence, profitability, and sustainable growth. The position requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of agribusiness operations, and the ability to build strategic partnerships with farmers, government agencies, financial institutions, and industry stakeholders. The incumbent will drive innovation, enhance productivity, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and sustainability standards.
Job Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
Develop and implement long-term business strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
Identify and execute new opportunities across crops, livestock, agro-processing, agri-inputs, and contract farming.
Lead market intelligence, competitive benchmarking, and product innovation initiatives.
Expand business portfolios and penetrate new markets through structured growth plans.
2. End-to-End Operations & Supply Chain Excellence
Oversee procurement, production, processing, logistics, and distribution operations.
Implement modern agricultural technologies, precision farming, and yield-improvement solutions.
Ensure end-to-end supply chain efficiency, quality control, and product traceability.
Optimize operational processes to strengthen productivity and reduce costs.
3. Financial Management & P&L Accountability
Lead budgeting, financial planning, and performance monitoring for all agribusiness units.
Achieve profitability targets through effective cost management and pricing strategies.
Track financial KPIs such as revenue, EBITDA, ROI, and operational metrics.
Ensure strong financial discipline and resource optimization across the division.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
Build impactful relationships with farmers, cooperatives, suppliers, NGOs, and development agencies.
Engage with government authorities, regulatory agencies, and research institutions for policy alignment and compliance.
Represent the agribusiness division at industry events, trade fairs, conferences, and external forums.
Strengthen farmer network programs and sustainability-focused partnerships.
5. Sustainability, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to food safety, environmental, and agricultural regulations (GAP, HACCP, ISO).
Drive ESG-focused initiatives such as regenerative agriculture, climate resilience, and water conservation.
Identify climatic, operational, and market risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Promote sustainable and ethical sourcing throughout the supply chain.
6. Leadership & People Development
Lead a high-performing cross-functional team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
