Job Context:
∎ DataSense is recruiting for filling in two positions of Business Analyst. The selected candidate is expected to pursue an intellectually challenging and impactful career in management consultancy and action research. The position demands analytical rigor, leadership, commitment, and creativity.
∎ DataSense is a new research and consultancy agency, emerged from iSocial`s strategic business unit with a portfolio of research and consultancy with various nation and international organizations and initiatives including International Labour Organization (ILO), Fairwork at Oxford Internet Institute of University of Oxford, UNDP Bangladesh, Orbis International, and The Girl Effect UK. DataSense is a team of professionals from various disciplines, educated and trained in Bangladesh and abroad. The research team works in Bangladesh, the UK, and the USA.
∎ JOB MODALITY: Hybrid modality (mixture of in-person and remote-based office), depending on the nature of work.
∎ JOB NATURE: Full-time, Sunday through Thursday.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Business Analyst is expected to analyse conceptual and operational design and processes of businesses, entities and projects, which pertain to a broad variety of domains including digital economy, entrepreneurship, governance, labour migration, international trade, etc. The responsibilities of the Business Analyst will involve:
∎ Implementing and executing collaborative assignments, including project management, e.g., timetabling, roadmap planning, reporting and dashboarding, workforce optimization and achieving milestones.
∎ Identifying business opportunities and ways to capitalize on those.
∎ Preparing concept notes and proposal materials for realizing business opportunities.
∎ Participating in regular discussions with stakeholders or clients, and liaising with potential partners to collaboratively enhance operational designs and validate requirements and findings.
∎ Conducting literature reviews?and designing?projects based on client requirements and team goals.
∎ Developing knowledge outputs on different projects.
∎ Gathering secondary data from various national and international sources for analysis and preparing reports for clients and publication.
∎ Creating and managing datasets for development of potential business model and evaluation of existing business processes.
∎ Collecting and interpreting primary data and model scenarios to develop analytical reports and propose effective strategies.
∎ Translating, transcribing, and annotating documents as and when required for project purposes.
∎ Coordinating with and managing intra and inter-team communication to ensure productive results.
∎ Managing field teams, including recruitment, supervision and building capacities of team members
∎ Continually updating knowledge and understanding in one's field of specialization.

∎ Project Management: Experience with managing projects, coordinating activities, maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, and applying automation and agile methodologies in activities.
∎ Quantitative Data Analysis: Household and macroeconomic data - SPSS, STATA, R, EViews, Excel.
∎ Qualitative Data Analysis: Qualitative and open-ended survey information - MAXQDA, FreeQDA, RQDA
∎ Macroeconomic & Public Policy Knowledge: Knowledge about macroeconomy in the context of public policy.
∎ Econometric Modelling: Hypothesize and test various econometric models to generate insights. Knowledge of complex systems and machine learning will be valued.
∎ Secondary Research: Experience in scouring data or documents from online and physical repositories (particularly government ministries and think tanks) for relevant data.
∎ Communications Skills: Ability to communicate project objectives and standard business operating procedures to stakeholders. Superior command of both English and Bangla is critical.
∎ Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel for field tests and in-person monitoring.
∎ Self-Starter: Fast learner who can work under stress and has an appetite for personal growth.
