• Strong knowledge and practical experience in banking and finance matters are essential, along with exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• A thorough understanding of corporate laws, regulatory frameworks, and legal procedures is required.

• The position demands outstanding written and spoken English proficiency, as clear legal drafting, communication with clients, and collaboration with senior counsel depend on a high standard of language skills.

• The candidate must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work both independently and within a team.

• Strong organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality are expected.

• Preference will be given to Barristers and to candidates enrolled as Advocates with the Bangladesh Bar Council.

Job Context

Liberty Chambers, one of the leading corporate and commercial law firms in Bangladesh, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in handling a broad spectrum of legal matters, with a particular focus on land law, corporate transactions, contract drafting, and banking and finance issues. The role requires strong analytical capability, exceptional legal research skills, and the ability to assess, vet, and advise on complex land and corporate documentation with precision and efficiency.

As part of our multidisciplinary team of experienced barristers, advocates, and legal consultants, the Associate Lawyer will be expected to contribute to the firm’s longstanding values of excellence, integrity, and client-focused service. The successful candidates will work closely with senior lawyers and clients, support ongoing corporate and commercial mandates, and ensure that all legal tasks are executed with the highest level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities

• Possessing substantial experience in advising and representing clients, including banks and financial institutions, with strong expertise in matters arising under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Artha Rin Adalat Ain, contract law, and document vetting processes.
• Demonstrating proven competence in handling legal issues relating to land law and property matters.
• Drafting clear, well-reasoned, and comprehensive legal opinions following detailed examination of land documents.
• Conducting on-site inspections of land and real estate projects for practical assessment and providing informed legal guidance.
• Filing and representing clients effectively in land-related litigation before relevant courts and tribunals.
• Ensuring full legal compliance through rigorous due diligence and meticulous vetting of land and corporate documents.
• Undertaking thorough legal research and analysis across a wide range of corporate and commercial law matters.
• Collaborating with senior lawyers in the drafting, review, and negotiation of legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
• Assisting in various corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and restructuring exercises.
