Responsibilities & Context:
- Conduct quality checks on all incoming raw materials (e.g., maize, soybean meal, rice bran, DDGS, fish meal, additives, etc.).
- Perform physical, chemical, and microbiological testing to ensure compliance with set specifications.
- Ensure proper sampling as per defined SOPs, IS standards, or regulatory guidelines.
- Supervise lab technicians and oversee routine analysis such as:
- Moisture content
- Crude protein, fiber, fat, ash
- Mycotoxin levels (e.g., aflatoxins)
- Adulteration tests
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of test results, and ensure instruments are calibrated and maintained.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all raw material tests and approvals/rejections.
- Communicate rejection decisions promptly to procurement and suppliers with justification and lab data.
- Guide and train lab and QA staff on new testing methods, SOPs, and quality standards.
