The centre is now looking for qualified person to fulfill the following vacant post immediately to work in Injury, disaster, and drowning prevention programme.
∎ Background/purpose of the role:
∎ Drowning is a leading cause of death worldwide. It`s a serious, neglected public health threat, claiming the lives of 320,000 people every year.
∎ More than 90% of drowning occurs in low- and middle-income countries, where people have higher exposure to the risks associated with open water as they go about their daily lives: collecting water, bathing, fishing and playing.
∎ In Bangladesh, drowning is the leading cause of death for children aged 1-17, with 18,000 young lives lost needlessly every year. Disasters and water-related risks affect all areas of Bangladesh, with the Barishal Division bearing the highest burden. Despite the death toll, action to reduce and prevent drowning in Barisal has been absent.
∎ In Bangladesh, drowning deaths mostly occur in rural areas, away from hospitals and out of the sight of policy makers. Evidence shows that a range of interventions are effective at preventing drowning, including the strategic use of barriers to control access to water, provision of safe places such as day care centres for pre-school children, and teaching school-age children basic swimming skills.
∎ Project Bhasa (which means `float` in Bengali) is a groundbreaking initiative to reduce drowning in the Barisal Division of Bangladesh. The project is developing a multi-sector and evidence-led strategy to target the most vulnerable people
∎ The outcome that this project is seeking to achieve is for other organisations to be in a position whereby they can deliver effective drowning prevention interventions for boys and girls under 12 in the Barishal division.
∎ CIPRB is seeking an experienced Anchal Supervisor to oversee the delivery of the Reducing mortality and improving early childhood development of children aged 1-4 in rural communities of Barisal, Bangladesh from July 2022 to December 2022 at field level, there is a possibility to extend the time. The Anchal Supervisor will be responsible for directly supervising a team of 25-35 caregivers of drowning prevention’s ECD intervention, as well as working closely with staff at field office to ensure that effective monitoring visits are paid regularly in assigned areas. Anchal Supervisor will be reportable to Anchal Mentoring Officer and functional relationship to the Area Coordinator. S/he will be responsible for Anchal Caregivers.
∎ Job Location: Kalapara sub district of Patuakhali and or Betagi/Taltoli sub district of Barguna with daily field visit in the intervention areas
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Prepare and submit effective monthly work plan to Anchal Monitoring Officer and Area Coordinator in the last week of each month
∎ Assess the logistics needs of the Anchal Centres in the respective areas
∎ Provide support in organizing Anchal various basic, refresher and staff development training according to project needs
∎ Monitoring and Supervise 25-30 Anchal activities through regular field visit (2 visit per day basis and 1 day deskwork weekly) for supervision and monitoring purpose. Supervisor will observe hardware part of each Anchal; the general cleanliness, safety and attendance of the children, management activities of Anchal Ma and conditions of Anchal physical surroundings. Make randomly Anchal children’s home visit and awareness raising about Anchal (Day Care Centre)
∎ Collect all Anchal related monthly report and entry the data in REDCap regularly. He/she will collect information and submit field visits monitoring report to REDCap regularly and daily share the Anchal visit report to Anchal Monitoring officers
∎ Assess daily activities of Anchal Maas and Anchal centers and report to AMO daily basis. Take proper and timely initiative for replacing drop out Anchal, Ancha Maa and Assistants
∎ Keep regular communication with Parents, VIPC, UIPC members and other stakeholders
∎ Attend in weekly meetings with Area Coordinator and AMO for updating ongoing activities. Participate and work as a facilitator in various meetings at project field sites such as Cluster, Parents, VIPC, UIPC, Courtyard meeting, Social Autopsy etc. as per project rules and regulations
∎ Collect First Responder Event Capture report from the project field volunteers and Anchak Maa and Anchal Assistant and or from the VIPC/UIPC members
∎ Write up field visit findings in the Sharing Register Book on a daily basis and discuss with AMO in daily sharing meetings. Maintain and update all reports and documentations of Anchal Child Care Centres. Collect case stories from project fields and submit to AMO timely.
∎ Maintain liaison with local stakeholders government organizations, development partners and other NGOs at the upazila, district and divisional level
∎ Support and implement any other activities as assigned by the Area Coordinator, and other higher management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years’ experience of having supervision and monitoring at community-based interventions within the development and/ education/ or health sector, preferably within rural settings in Bangladesh.
∎ Experience monitoring and supervising team at field level
∎ Track record of supervisory and people management
∎ Proficient in computer skills, including use of email, internet, Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
∎ Knowledge on safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
∎ Excellent interpersonal communication skill
∎ Good knowledge and understanding of the development sector and local government structures in Bangladesh
∎ Excellent communication, organizational, team working skills and willingness to learn
∎ Proficient in computer skills, including use of email, Internet, Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
∎ Experience of working at grassroots level would be an added advantage
Salary:
∎ Ranges between Taka 24,291-26,720 based on educational qualifications and experiences.
