Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering (preferable) or any other subject of Social Science from any recognized public/private university

Job Context:
∎ We are looking for a dynamic team player who will work as a Volunteer with the Oxfam country team. Oxfam in Bangladesh is working with Mymensingh municipality to enhance resilience of the urban community. The project incorporates Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Improved Livelihood for domestic workers, Youth development and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) with a special focus on Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) and waste management through active engagement of women, youth and private sector. During last couple of years, Oxfam concentrated on ensuring improved access to WASH for the poor community and increased awareness on the same for all target groups. It has remarkable success on increasing stakeholders` level of awareness on waste management system and good hygiene practices as well. Since last year, as part of second generation sanitation, Oxfam in Bangladesh extended its WASH program with FSM while it has significantly experienced containment and its management since last few years. By last year, FSM Plant was already established, which will be upgraded with sludge collection and transport system and disposal of treated end-products. The project will concentrate on upgrading FSM system and working on demand creation within community through awareness raising and dissemination. Related to this, Oxfam is going to document the whole implementation process including challenges, lesson learnt during different steps of implementation with the support of a volunteer.
∎ Volunteer will support Oxfam and partner staff for supporting the study work. She will be produced process documentation of whole development process of Fecal Sludge Management system in Mymensingh through regular site visit, different consultations with community and stakeholder at field level. In addition to that he/she will also intend to document the implementation process including capturing good practices, challenges etc of the project.

∎ Excellent writing skill in English and Bangla
∎ Young, motivated and Interested to travel frequently
∎ Be proactive in anticipating and seeking out information related to the priorities
∎ Experience in writing especially case study/story writing

Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ A motivational allowance of BDT 1000/ will be paid to the Volunteer during the period of assignment for transportation and lunch based on actual working days
