∎ Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Experience Requirements:
∎ 4 to 5 year(s)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Conduct regular health examinations and assessments of dairy cattle to identify and diagnose illnesses and injuries.
∎ Develop and implement vaccination and disease prevention programs to ensure the overall health of the herd.
∎ Administer medications, treatments, and surgical procedures as necessary to treat sick or injured animals.
∎ Monitor and manage the reproductive health of the herd, including estrus synchronization and artificial insemination programs.
∎ Provide assistance during calving and manage fertility-related issues.
∎ Maintain detailed records of individual animals and the overall health and performance of the herd.
∎ Advise on nutrition, housing, and general management practices to optimize animal well-being and productivity.
∎ Implement biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of diseases within the herd.
∎ Be available for emergency veterinary care 24/7, responding to situations like birthing complications or acute illnesses.
∎ Conduct disease surveillance and manage disease outbreaks through prompt diagnosis and treatment.
∎ Implement biosecurity protocols to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases in the herd.
∎ Provide training and guidance to farm staff on best practices for animal health and welfare.
∎ Stay updated on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine and dairy science.
∎ Participate in research projects related to dairy cattle health and welfare.
∎ Analyze data and recommend improvements in animal management based on research findings.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 26 years
∎ Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
∎ Specialized training or certification in dairy cattle health is a plus.
∎ Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
∎ Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
∎ Physical fitness and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
∎ A genuine passion for animal welfare and agriculture.
