Responsibilities & Context:

Responsible for:

  • The Field Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the successful arrangement and implementation of field activities in the Project Preparation Grant (PPG) phase of the Enhancing Coastal Adaptation and Resilience in Bangladesh (CARB) project, funded by the GEF.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with local government bodies, government stakeholders, and departments at upazila and district level as well as microfinance institutes, NGOs and professional groups.

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with local authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders to gain support for the project activities.

  • Short-term and daily basis engagement of one field coordinator cum rapporteur for conducting and preparing reports on Vulnerability Assessment.

  • Organize and conduct stakeholder consultations at community level, union level, upazila and district level.

  • Facilitate community and stakeholder consultations at community, union, upazila and district level as well as reporting.

  • Facilitate baseline collection, vulnerability assessment and gap analysis reporting, hydrological analysis and geo-spatial data collection for mangrove plantation.

  • Organize community-level enumerator engagement in baseline collection and conducting focus group discussions (FGD),

  • Lead the process of beneficiary/participant selection, validation, and engagement with different interventions and services as per the project plan and target.

  • Safeguard Planning and conduct local stakeholder and Community Consultations

  • Work closely with the Finance and Admin Officer to ensure sound financial management and compliance with organizational policies.

  • Maintain close communication with different project teams under climate action and other sectors of Friendship.

  • Prepare and submit progress reports, case studies, and success stories following the guidance shared by senior management.

Activities:

  • Stakeholder Consultations - Local Level (Vulnerability Assessment Gap Analysis, facilitator and Rapporteur for Reporting, 22 Union Parishads)

  • Baseline study, livelihood and market linkage assessment data collection and support hydrological analysis data collection and reporting.

  • Stakeholder consultation at different levels (local, upazila and district level) and reporting.

  • Facilitation, coordination, and ensuring Climate Vulnerability Capacity Assessment

  • Implementing Community Resilient Building Interventions

  • Climate Resilient Homes and Infrastructure Development

Skills and Competencies:

  •  Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Geography, Environmental Science or Climate Change, Forestry, Development Studies, Agricultural Science or Natural Resource Management.

  • Seven years of experience in projects with a focus on Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change and Adaptation, Environment Restoration and Climate Resilient Infrastructure Development.

  • Experience in community consultation, baseline survey process, market linkage data collection, and good in report preparation and presentation.   

  • Ability to plan, implement, budget, and provide technical and financial oversight for project activities.

  • In-depth understanding of climate change impacts and vulnerability analysis in different contexts.

  • Understanding of the social dynamics and community dynamics in the Sundarbans area.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, NGOs, local communities, and private sector entities.

  • Ability to manage stress, multitask, problem-solve, and make informed decisions.

  • Experience in conducting field visits and inspections to ensure quality control.

  • Willingness and enthusiasm to work in challenging and difficult situations in remote locations.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in the local language, Bengali, and English.

  • Experience in conducting workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing events.

  • Proficient in preparing reports, documentation, and presenting findings to stakeholders.

  • Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
