Responsibilities & Context:
The Storekeeper makes sure that every item Nodi owns, from raw materials and semi-finished pieces to finished goods, can be found, counted, and accounted for at any time. The role records each movement of goods against a challan, keeps the stock register on paper and mirrors it in Excel, and reconciles the two so that the figures management reviews are reliable.
The role also supports the distribution team. The Storekeeper helps collect goods from centres and vendors, and prepares and hands over goods going to the showrooms, trade buyers such as Aarong, and export shipments. This gives Nodi a clear view of stock levels early enough to prevent stockouts and unexplained losses.
Receive goods arriving from the weaving and production centres, outside vendors and the Design House, and check each delivery against the accompanying challan.
Count and confirm quantities on arrival, and flag shortages, excess or visibly damaged items to the QC and Dispatch Officer before they are entered into stock.
Prepare a material received receipt for goods that pass the check, and file the challan and receipt together.
Keep received goods in their assigned storage areas, separated by type (raw material, semi-finished, finished, trade, export, rejected).
Maintain the paper stock register and bin or shelf cards, with an entry for every receipt and every issue made against a challan.
Enter the same movements into the Excel stock sheet on the day they occur, using the standard format set by management, so the paper and digital records always match.
Record semi-finished goods issued to tailors at the Design House, and finished goods received back from them, including the receipt prepared on return.
Update the register as soon as goods are sent to a showroom, a trade buyer or an export shipment, and note the destination, quantity and challan number.
Keep a separate record of rejected and held goods, with the justification prepared by the QC and Dispatch Officer attached.
Help the distribution team collect goods from centres, vendors and showrooms, and bring them to the store.
Prepare finished goods for outward movement to Banani and Dhanmondi, and to trade buyers such as Aarong, by picking, counting, packing and raising the outgoing challan for approval.
Support the preparation of export-ready goods for shipment, including counting, packing lists and labelling as directed by the QC and Dispatch Officer.
Hand over goods only against an approved challan or requisition, and obtain a signed acknowledgement from the person receiving them.
Receive returns and unsold goods back from the showrooms and record them against the original challan.
Carry out a physical count at agreed intervals (weekly for fast-moving items, monthly for the full store) and reconcile it with the paper register and the Excel sheet.
Investigate any difference, report it in writing to the reporting manager, and correct records only after approval.
Prepare a weekly stock summary and a monthly stock and movement report, covering opening stock, receipts, issues, closing stock, slow-moving items and items nearing stockout.
Provide stock figures when requested for management reports, including the quarterly stock and inventory trend overview for the Executive Director.
Alert the Procurement and Logistics Officer when stock of thread, trims, accessories or other consumables falls to the reorder level, so a purchase requisition can be raised in time.
Keep the store clean, organised and labelled, with fabric and finished goods protected from moisture, dust, pests and fire risk.
Control access to the store, keep keys secure and make sure no goods leave without documentation.
Report damage, theft, spoilage or storage problems immediately to the reporting manager.
Carry out any other related duties assigned by the Senior Finance Manager within the scope of the role.
Minimum HSC or equivalent; a diploma or degree in commerce, supply chain or a related field is an advantage.
At least 2 to 3 years of experience as a storekeeper, store assistant or inventory clerk, preferably in garments, textiles, handicrafts or retail.
Prior experience keeping paper stock registers and challan-based records is required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel: entering data, basic formulas (sums, lookups), sorting, filtering and keeping a clean, consistently formatted sheet.
Ability to read and prepare challans, material received receipts and packing lists accurately.
Basic understanding of fabric and finished product handling, and of how to count, fold, pack and label goods without damage.
Ability to read and write in Bangla and read in English at a working level.
Accuracy and attention to detail, especially with counts, numbers and document references.
Integrity and a strong sense of accountability for goods in custody.
Organised, methodical and able to keep records up to date daily without reminders.
Physically able to lift, carry and move goods, and to travel to showrooms and centres when needed.
Willingness to work as part of a small team and to follow written procedures.
