Responsibilities & Context:

The purpose of this role is to deliver the organisation’s communication objectives and support its influencing efforts. This role requires strong writing and storytelling skills, the ability to plan effective communication strategies, manage digital and media content, and liaise with various projects, partners and external stakeholders. Good teamwork, creativity, and attention to detail are also essential to engage audiences and support project visibility.

Key Responsibilities

Communications and Branding

  •  Draft, edit, and translate communication materials (press releases, articles, stories, brochures, reports) ensuring clarity, accuracy, and cultural relevance for donors, partners, and communities.

  • Visit project sites to gather content, photos, videos, and quotes for storytelling, donor reports, and social media, following ethical practices and informed consent.

  • Create engaging branding materials, knowledge products, social media content for platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, including captions, visuals, scheduling, and multimedia formats.

  • Work closely with the programme team to develop project and organizational communications plan, support in annual reports.

  • Ensure all content aligns with the organisation’s branding, tone, and messaging, monitoring trends and audience interaction to optimize engagement.

  • Stay updated on digital communication trends, NGO storytelling, and media tools to improve outreach and recommend innovative approaches.

  • Maintain the organisation’s visual identity and tone across all communications, using approved templates and style guides.

  • Coordinate with external service providers (designers, printers, photographers, videographers) to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of materials.

Advocacy and Campaigns

  • Assist in planning and implementing communication campaigns for key advocacy dates, project milestones, and awareness initiatives, including content creation and event support.

  • Develop and manage communications and content calendar, schedule publications and posts, and use analytics to monitor engagement and improve content strategy.

  • Collaborate with project teams to create communication products for advocacy, including toolkits, infographics, posters, and presentations, ensuring donor visibility and clear messaging.

  • Support advocacy priorities by preparing materials, coordinating stakeholder outreach, assisting campaigns, and documenting outcomes.

  • Assist in planning and delivering seminars, workshops, and knowledge-sharing events, supporting logistics, promotional materials, and documentation.
