Responsibilities & Context:

• Ensure adequate medical standards, quality facilities, and safe, client-centered aesthetic dermatology services for Hijra and other marginalized and underserved communities.

• Provide respectful, non-discriminatory, gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate dermatological and aesthetic care to all clients.

• Conduct comprehensive dermatological consultations, including assessment of skin, hair and aesthetic concerns, taking into consideration the client's medical history, gender identity, endocrinological status, medications and individual treatment needs.

• Examine clients, take appropriate medical histories, assess dermatological conditions and develop appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans.

• Provide individualized aesthetic dermatology treatment plans based on clinical assessment, skin type, hair characteristics, treatment objectives, safety considerations and realistic client expectations.

• Provide laser hair removal services for Hijra, transgender and other marginalized clients, where clinically appropriate and within the scope of professional training and organizational protocols.

• Conduct appropriate pre-laser assessment, including evaluation of skin type, hair characteristics, contraindications, medications, previous treatments and potential risks before laser hair removal.

• Perform or supervise laser hair removal procedures using approved equipment and protocols, ensuring appropriate device settings, safety precautions and infection prevention measures.

• Provide appropriate counseling regarding the expected number of sessions, treatment response, possible side effects, aftercare, limitations and realistic outcomes of laser hair removal.

• Provide appropriate aesthetic dermatology services for common skin concerns, including acne, acne scars, pigmentation, melasma, uneven skin tone, photoaging and other dermatological and aesthetic conditions.

• Perform and/or supervise approved aesthetic procedures such as chemical peels, microneedling, PRP, laser/light-based procedures and other services according to professional competency, training and organizational protocols.

• Ensure proper patient selection, informed consent, pre-procedure assessment, procedure documentation and post-procedure follow-up for all aesthetic interventions.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information, including medical history, gender identity, photographs, treatment records and other sensitive information.

• Ensure registration, clinical examination, appropriate documentation and maintenance of medical records for every client.

• Ensure that all clients receive clear and accurate information regarding treatment options, benefits, risks, possible complications, expected outcomes, costs where applicable and available alternatives.

• Assess contraindications and potential risks before performing any aesthetic procedure and ensure that appropriate safety measures are followed.

• Monitor clients during and after procedures and take immediate and appropriate action in case of adverse reactions, complications, or emergencies.

• Ensure appropriate infection prevention and control, sterilization, hygiene, and safe handling of equipment, instruments, and consumables.

• Ensure proper maintenance, safe operation and appropriate use of laser and other aesthetic equipment in accordance with organizational protocols and manufacturer guidelines.

• Provide appropriate post-procedure instructions and ensure follow-up of clients to assess treatment response, manage adverse effects, and determine further treatment needs.

• Identify dermatological or other medical conditions requiring specialized management and refer clients to appropriate specialists or healthcare facilities when necessary.

• Coordinate with physicians, counselors, mental health professionals and other relevant service providers when multidisciplinary care or referral is required.

• Provide counseling on skincare, sun protection, hygiene, lifestyle, and preventive skin and hair care practices.

• Prescribe topical or other appropriate medications within the scope of professional qualification and practice.

• Maintain accurate records of consultations, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, laser sessions, products/medications used, clinical photographs where applicable, adverse events and follow-up findings.

• Ensure ethical and rational use of aesthetic products, medications, laser technology, equipment and consumables.

• Ensure that all services are provided without discrimination based on gender identity, gender expression, occupation, socioeconomic status, HIV status or other social circumstances.

• Maintain a safe, respectful and non-judgmental clinical environment where Hijra and other marginalized clients feel comfortable accessing aesthetic and dermatological services.

• Participate in development and updating of clinical protocols, SOPs, referral pathways and quality improvement initiatives related to aesthetic dermatology and laser services.

• Support awareness and counseling activities related to safe aesthetic practices and discourage unsafe, unregulated, or self-administered aesthetic procedures.

• Maintain professional and ethical standards and ensure that treatment recommendations are based on clinical assessment, client needs, safety, and informed choice.

• In case of emergency or significant adverse events, immediately notify the Line Manager and take appropriate clinical measures as required.
