Job Context:
∎ Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) is going to implement “Multi sectoral recovery response to flood affected communities in Sylhet division, Bangladesh” Project in Dowarabazar Upazila under Sunamganj district in partnership with ACF. The present project tenure is one year. The job is contractual for the project period with a 3 months probation period. The position will be recruited for implementing the project based at the Project Office at Dowarabazar Upazila in Sunamganj district with substantial field activities.
∎ Friends In Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB), is a Bangladeshi non-governmental organisation founded in 1979 under the Societies` Registration Act, 1860. The organisation is also registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau and the Micro Credit Regulatory Authority, of the Government of Bangladesh.
∎ FIVDB`s societal vision is that of `a vibrant society based on justice, equity, democracy and environmentally sound principles`. It works with the mission to give the disadvantaged women, men and children greater voice, reduce their vulnerability, increase their use of citizenship rights and help them enhance their quality of life. It works to strengthen social protection and safety networks and participates in national and international outreach and advocacy. The organization combines grassroots service delivery, social mobilization and advocacy in its work and works in collaboration with communities, civil society, the Government and private sectors.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Union Mobilizer is the front-line position of the project; the UM is responsible for organizing the community; identifying their knowledge gaps on multi sectoral recovery responses approaches. S/he will select program participants as per provided participant selection guideline. S/he will identify main causes of disaster in the specific area with the assistance of the community, find out way of mitigation, local resources, establish linkage and arrange different awareness session to community people. This position will closely work with Technical Officer-Mental Health and Nutrition under direct supervision of Project Coordinator.
∎ 1. Selection of program participants in the community and facilitate community following the guidelines.
∎ 2. Arrange community consultation meeting to identify most vulnerable flood affected households/people.
∎ 3. Conduct community risk assessments (CRA) with additional focus on sectors agriculture, livestock, WASH, health; gender and inclusion mainstreamed.
∎ 4. With Volunteer collect base line data as per requirements.
∎ 5. Support to project participants for opening e-wallet account to receive multi-purpose cash support.
∎ 6. Ensure all logistical support to organize trainings, seminar or workshop at union and upazila level.
∎ 7. Identify local knowledge and bridging with modern technologies for resilience agricultural practices, livestock and WASH.
∎ 8. Arrange and conduct the community awareness session on gender issue including protection issue, rights of people with disabilities, women, elderly, climate change variabilities, climate risk knowledge dissemination etc within the community to disseminate knowledge on MHPSS needs after disasters, care / supportive options and coping mechanisms.
∎ 9. Arrange community awareness session on disaster preparedness, dietary diversity, food storage, positive nutrition seeking behaviours, hygiene promotion and mental health.
∎ 10. Build relationships with partners, government, other NGOs and UN agencies to establish/strengthen appropriate program objective.
∎ 11. Maintain effective communications and contacts with the line departments like UHC, UH, and FWC, the agriculture department,
∎ 12. Identify MHPSS needs after disaster and arrange individual counselling for them.
∎ 13. Ensure to establish a referral mechanism for more advance mental health support of vulnerable people for MHPSS needs.
∎ 14. Organize mothers’ assembly, social autopsy, GMP and SAM campaign at community.
∎ 15. Supervise record keeping for SAM and EPI drop out children in the community and referral to UHC/DH.
∎ 16. Identify the families who needed repair their damaged WASH facilities (Tube well, latrine and washroom) support and ensure to provide required materials to make the facility functional.
∎ 17. Conduct awareness raising session to community women and adolescent girls for enhance personal hygiene practices through providing menstrual hygiene kits to reduce negative affect of women’s health.
∎ 18. Providing menstrual hygiene kits to women and adolescent girls can enhance their personal hygiene practices and to reduce negative affect of women’s health
∎ 19. To install sanitary napkin vending machines in three high school and ensure napkin vending machines maintenance.
∎ 20. Work with the Project Coordinator to develop monthly and weekly planning and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly report.
∎ 21. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including community leaders, & NGOs to enhance multi-agency cooperation and coordination.
∎ 22. Ensure activities are done in accordance with FIVDB administrative policies and in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of program.
∎ 23. Contribute to a positive team spirit among all project staff.
∎ 24. Ensure the safety of team members (in respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse - PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme's goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ 25. Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ 26. Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
∎ The employee will be ready to perform any other tasks assigned by organization for the greater interest of the organization and the community even if those tasks are not mentioned in the above role and responsibilities.
∎ Report to: Project Coordinator
∎ Working place and time utilization: The position is based at the upazila level with a majority of the time spent in the field for program implementation, monitoring and documentation purposes. S/he will spend minimum 85% time in the field and 15% at the office on reporting.

∎ Motorcycle driving skill with knowledge on safety measures and valid license.

Salary:
∎ Tk. 30000 - 35000 (Monthly)
