About the Project:

To enhance Early Childhood Development (ECD) and reduce Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in underserved and substandard urban settlements of Narayanganj and Gazipur Districts of Dhaka Division in Bangladesh, a project funded by The Light Foundation (TLF) aims to create a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 3 to 6 through Resource Centre’s (RCs) that will provide daycare services, pre-primary education, and legal aid support for their families.

Over the five-year project period, the consistent delivery of ECD services will support the long-term cognitive, emotional, and physical development of children, helping them build a stronger foundation for the future. Sustained legal aid services, community awareness campaigns, and proactive engagement with community members are expected to contribute to reducing GBV, creating a safer, more enabling environment for both the targeted children and the wider community.

About the role:

The Deputy Manager will support and oversee community awareness, legal aid, child marriage prevention, and GBV activities under this project. This role also involves supervising field officers, coordinate community mobilisation and court case support, and work with panel lawyers to ensure quality implementation of legal services across the Dhaka Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support field-level implementation of legal aid, community mobilisation, and GBV/child marriage prevention activities under the TLF-funded project.

  • Organise community awareness activities such as legal awareness sessions, popular theatre, tea stall meetings, and other participatory methods.

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and supervision to field officers and frontline staff to ensure quality services.

  • Assist in legal aid services by following up on legal aid clinics, case management, and service quality.

  • Facilitate court case management, including documentation, legal notices, case referrals, and regular follow-up with panel lawyers.

  • Ensure survivor-centred support by coordinating referrals for medical care, DNA testing, OCC services, and rehabilitation support.

  • Coordinate with local administration, judiciary, DLAC, panel lawyers, and other stakeholders on legal aid and GBV-related issues.

  • Monitor panel lawyer performance, coordination meetings, and annual evaluation and contract renewal processes.

  • Coordinate timely and accurate VAWC reporting through SELP MIS (management information system), following programme and donor requirements, and support budget compliance and expense verification.

  • Disseminate field feedback and learning to improve tools and guidelines, in coordination with Head Office and Field Offices for smooth implementation.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.

This position is based in field-office within Dhaka Division.
