Responsibilities & Context:

Based in Narayangonj, the Assistant Project Officer will be responsible for organizing and facilitating key activities at both national & field level under the assigned DMDP funded Project. Mainly coordination with the city authority, plastic recyclers & collectors and conduct training for the key stakeholders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Programmatic Responsibilities:

  • Assist in collaboration with plastic recyclers and Municipalities/City Corporations to facilitate plastic waste collection from designated bins and other sources and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.

  • Assist in community sensitization & mobilization activities by engaging waste pickers, plastic waste recyclers, local leaders, youth groups, women’s groups and community-based organizations.

  • Assist in monitoring plastic waste collection volumes, recycling rates and project performance indicators in coordination with project team.

  • Assist in coordinating with private sector actors, recycling enterprises, and informal waste workers to strengthen the plastic recycling value chain.

  • Assist in organizing school and community-based education sessions on plastic waste management and environmental protection.

  • Assist in field level troubleshooting and provide logistical support during project implementation.

  • Support close coordination and partnership with project stakeholders to contribute to the effective and timely achievement of project goals, outputs, and deliverables.

  • Assist in delivering training sessions, presentations and other capacity-building activities to diverse audiences under the guidance of project management team.

  • Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by the Project Manager or senior project staff to support successful project implementation.

  • Be willing to travel frequently to project working areas to support implementation and monitoring activities.

 Administrative Responsibilities:

  • S/he will support in organisational administrative works at national level in coordination with country office people and culture department, finance department and general support service department.

  • S/he will be responsible for effective financial management in accordance with organisational policies at the local level.

  • Actively enhance Practical Action’s visibility and impact through strategic partnerships, representation, communications and engagement with government, non-government, and private sector actors, as well as the media.
