Job Context:
∎ Suchana- ending the cycle of malnutrition in Bangladesh, is a multi-sectoral nutrition programme aims to achieve significant reduction in stunting amongst children under two years of age in Bangladesh. The programme adopts an integrated graduation model to nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions to prevent chronic malnutrition within the critical 1,000 days from conception to until a child reaches its second birthday. Suchana consortium includes: technical partners - Save the Children (SC), Hellen Keller International (HKI), WorldFish, International Development Enterprises (iDE); implementing partners - Friends in Village Development in Bangladesh (FIVDB), Centre for Natural Resources Studies (CNRS), , Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS); and research partner - icddr,b.
∎ Duration of the Contract: 03 Months

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Union Coordinator (UC) will be based at Union-level and will be overall responsible for two or more unions s/he is assigned for. S/he will be responsible for ensuring all operational activities are being implemented in those unions to achieve the outcomes of Suchana Programme, notably for the activities approved in the AIP and respective DIP.S/he will be thus held accountable for accomplishment of all tasks in those unions.The key responsibilities of UC are to prepare the implementation plan, coordination and successful accomplishment of interventions at field level through Field Facilitators (FF) and Suchana Community Mobilizers (SCM). S/he will also keep close coordination among union level representatives from technical partners. S/he will also build capacity of FFs and SCMs and relevant stakeholders.
∎ UC will also work closely and jointly with the Governance and Community Development Officers (GCDO) for activities related to community development and institution building like GramPusti Unnayan Kendro(GPUK), Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA), Adolescent club and strengthening the capacity of Pusti Dol (Nutrition Improvement Group-Suchana core group of BHHs).
∎ Part II: Job Responsibilities and Tasks
∎ A.1. PROGRAMME PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION
∎ To assist the upazila team in preparing monthly work plan, DIP and AIP.
∎ Organizing inception workshops at union level.
∎ Identify most vulnerable villages through union consultation meeting and transect walk as well as provide supportive supervision in different stages of BHH selection i.e. wealth ranking, HH verification, and HH registration.
∎ Ensure that specific nutrition sessions are conducted in Pusti Dol meetings by FF.
∎ Lead and guide in Identification and formation of Mother and Children Group and ensure regular courtyard sessions including cooking demonstration are conducted by FF and SCM.
∎ Prepare beneficiary training plan for HFP, poultry, aquaculture, IGA and VMF and support FF in conducting these trainings in the field.
∎ Ensure that GMP sessions are conducted regularly in EPI outreach and the Community Clinics.
∎ Ensure regular visit to the 1000 HHs and counselling of PLW by the SCM.
∎ Jointly with GCDO, develop capacity of Community Group and Community Support Group.
∎ Jointly with GCDO, conduct orientation on nutrition for religious/community leaders.
∎ Prepare refreshers training/coaching session plan for HFP, poultry, aquaculture, IGA and VMF and support FF in conducting these trainings in the field and regular follow-up of VMF and demonstration ponds.
∎ Organize financial literacy training for IGA beneficiaries.
∎ Organize linkage building events for sharing production and experience among VMF and demonstration pond beneficiaries with market actors and other relevant stakeholders.
∎ Organize awareness raining pot songs/Pala Gaan/community theatre at union level.
∎ Plan, coordinate and implement ward meeting for RMA, Bigger Picture, PSPM, Business Planning and IGA.
∎ Form GPUK and VSLA groups as well as skill development of the members and leaders from these groups through meetings and other events.
∎ Support GCDO to organize and facilitate life skill training for peer leaders of adolescent groups.
∎ Build capacity of UP bodies and UP Standing Committees.
∎ Perform key role in organizing and participating in different day observations like World Breastfeeding Day, World Handwashing Day, Safe Motherhood Day etc.
∎ A.2. PROGRAMME SUPERVISION, MONITORING AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
∎ Perform regular follow-up and provide supportive supervision to FF as well as to SCM in group and sub-group formation, specially Mother and Children Group and Adolescent group.
∎ Follow-up of adolescent life skill improvement sessions conducted through the cascade model by peer leaders though regular field visit.
∎ Monitor as well as provide on-the-job training to village/community-level team members and provide technical and operational guidance in order to increase their capacity in quality delivery through regular field visits.
∎ Conduct process monitoring through tab based MIS system.
∎ A.3. PROGRAMME BUDGET, ACCOUNTABILITY AND COMPLIANCES
∎ Perform financial and administrative activities required at the union level where s/he is working to ensure smooth implementation.
∎ Facilitate financial management and ensure timely financial and administrative support at union and community Level.
∎ Ensure that all compliances are being followed according to the procurement guideline and provide necessary support to make better coordination of the procurement activities.
∎ B.Coordination and networking
∎ Collect, compile, analyse and submit progress update on Suchana Programme interventions from the field level and report to the respective places, notably for the respective union.
∎ Take necessary steps according to consortium decisions for further improvement/change in regard to the findings mentioned in the reports and notably for the respective union.
∎ Support communication activities at the field level, notably overall for the respective union.
∎ Keep close and regular communications with technical partners to assure on time guidance.
∎ Maintain liaison with different stakeholders at union level.
∎ C. General
∎ Conduct regular/monthly and special meetings, notably at union level
∎ Attend training/orientation as and when asked by the Suchana programme/IP management.
∎ Perform any other task as and when assigned by the Suchana programme/management.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 25 to 50 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Female candidates are encouraged to apply
∎ At least three year experience in community based development activities, notably in nutrition and livelihoods areas.
∎ Good communication, facilitation and motivational skills.
∎ Understanding on local culture and languages is preferable.
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to village/community level.
∎ Having problem solving and prompt decision making capacity.
∎ Ability to work under pressure.

Salary: Tk. 23000 - 26000 (Monthly)
