Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world`s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018 and 2019 DRC implemented aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox`s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
∎ OBJECTIVE: The objective of the assignment is to provide the NGO Platform with Oral translation services (Bangla-English-Bangla) at meetings.
∎ POSITION DETAILS
∎ The translator may have to provide oral translation services as follows-
∎ 2-2.30 Hours (at least 4 sessions per-month)
∎ Half day
∎ Full day.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The NGO Platform needs the Oral translation services with the following specifications:
∎ Oral Translation from English to Bangla and/or Bangla to English;
∎ Be available for translation from January- December 2020;
∎ The expected translation service is at least twice a month and 2-3 hours for each meeting. Services will also be needed for trainings, workshops etc as per the planned activities of the Platform. On average, the translator is expected to be available for 30-40 days for the duration/ 100 hours.
∎ Be available for providing urgent oral translation service within 48 hours' notice
∎ The translator should have experience in translating "humanitarian" language used in the humanitarian sector; and ideally, should be familiar with the language on refugee protection.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 1-year experience in translation services with UN/ INGO/ humanitarian agencies working with refugees.
∎ Fluency in written and spoken Bangla and English;
∎ Excellent communication and translation skills;

Salary:
∎ Payment will be made in BDT. The rate for oral service shall be inclusive of all associated costs such as VAT/ income tax, etc.
