Experience:
Graduation in any of the science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and technology-related subjects (Science in HSC is a must)
Fluency in relevant languages (e.g., Rohingya, English).
Minimum 3 years’ experience in teaching and learning either in the camp or 5 years of experience outside of the camps.
work experience in the organization with TPD (teacher Professional Development) expertise will be an asset.
Experience in the Rohingya response and with the Myanmar Curriculum is highly desirable.
Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone`s basic needs and rights. SKUS since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx, SKUS has worked in Cox`s Bazar district with children, adolescents, women, and men. SKUS works to provide access to learning opportunities in a safe and protective environment, offer quality teaching and learning, and increase refugee/host community participation and engagement in children`s education. Based on children`s and adolescents` rights, SKUS has established a quality learning and protection center with support from different international donors, including UN agencies.
SKUS has been implementing a project named “Rohingya children and adolescents aged 3-18 receive gender-responsive, quality, inclusive education through the Myanmar curriculum and Early Childhood Development in the Rohingya Refugee Response, Cox’s Bazar” with the support of UNICEF. SKUS is looking for a suitable candidate for the immediate appointment of STEM coach for the project mentioned above, supported by UNICEF.
Duration of contract: up to December 31, 2024. (Contingent on Donor Extension and government approval.)
Job Responsibilities :
Curriculum Integration into the Classroom:
Develop lesson plans on the content of Science and Mathematics subjects according to the Myanmar Curriculum. This will also include adding possible practical exercises, projects, and experiments to accommodate learning preferences effectively.
Prepare the yearly plan and syllabus of the relevant subjects at the beginning of the year to ensure the learning goal is planned effectively.
Classroom Management and teaching :
STEM coach will be responsible to teach Science and Mathematics in the learning centre
She/He will be expected to establish an enjoyable and interactive learning environment in the learning facilities with effective teaching and learning techniques to teach science and mathematics classes.
Capacity Development of other teachers:
Conduct a Teaching Learning Circle (TLC) for teachers, focusing on effective pedagogies, inquiry-based learning based on the textbook content.
Provide ongoing support and mentorship to enhance teachers’ confidence and proficiency in teaching science and mathematics.
