SKUS works to improve the lives of marginalized and underprivileged communities through programs in education, livelihoods, women’s empowerment, protection, health, and humanitarian response. Position Overview:
The Livelihood Training and Production Expert will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation, designing, and ensuring product (e.g., handicrafts, etc.) quality, considering the market demand of all livelihood and skills development activities under the Means to Lead project, including informal/vocational training, production and market linkage, and other income-generating initiatives, income tracking. The position will ensure that project activities are implemented effectively, in alignment with National Skill Development Authority (NSDA) and LSDS guidelines, and in close coordination and technical support with lead NGO, donors, government departments, local authorities, and community structures.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Implementation (Training, Design, Production, and Market Linkages)
Lead the planning and execution of livelihood skills development and informal/vocational training activities, including production and market linkage and other income-generating initiatives.
Design and deliver market-driven handicraft and other skill development training with practical modules and assessments.
Develop new, market-oriented products, considering the access to income of the project participant.
Ensure adherence to project work plans, timelines, and quality standards.
Supervise trainers, volunteers, and others to ensure effective delivery of project activities.
Support participant selection based on defined criteria (vulnerable women, female-headed households, low-income families, unemployed youth, and GBV survivors supported by MPWC).
Monitor training sessions to ensure they meet project and beneficiary needs, providing guidance to maintain quality and relevance.
Facilitate market linkage activities, including the establishment of selling corners and connections with buyers and local markets.
Develop training modules and SOPs for Market linkage and production and other.
Build market linkages with retailers and online platforms
Coordination and Partnership
Actively coordinate with the Means to Lead Project Manager and with her leadership to build smooth coordination and stakeholder management
Liaise with government officials, especially UNO, CiC, and local authorities, to ensure alignment with local livelihood and skills initiatives.
Coordinate with the LSDS sector, NGOs, and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and referral mechanisms.
Represent SKUS in relevant coordination meetings, workshops, and technical forums.
Training Operations Management
Develop or adapt training curricula and session plans (tailoring, beautification, handicrafts, baking, small business, poultry rearing, home gardening, etc.) in line with NSDA standards.
Oversee pre- and post-assessments of trainees to measure progress and learning outcomes.
Coordinate certification processes and follow up on post-training engagement (income generation tracking, business setup, etc.).
Financial and Resource Management
Support in preparing training-related budgets and tracking expenditure in coordination with the Finance and Admin team.
Ensure cost-effective use of project resources and adherence to SKUS and donor financial policies.
Monitor procurement and distribution of training materials, toolkits, and start-up support packages to beneficiaries.
Monitoring and Reporting
Work closely with the M&E team to track progress against project indicators and ensure timely data collection.
Prepare regular progress reports, success stories, and case studies.
Prepare the DIP and Work plan, and track the project activity implementation according to the plan.
Track participant income levels post-training to assess sustainability and project impact.
· Ensure data on production, sales, and income is regularly collected, verified, and reported in coordination with M&E.
· Support documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and challenges.
Capacity Building and Quality Assurance
Provide technical guidance to trainers and volunteers to maintain high-quality training delivery.
Identify gaps in implementation and recommend practical solutions to improve program effectiveness.
Ensure that all activities promote gender equality, protection, and inclusion principles.
Event and Documentation Support
Lead organization of events such as day observations, exhibitions, or grant distribution ceremonies.
Facilitate participation in fairs and exhibitions to boost sales and visibility
Maintain comprehensive documentation, including attendance sheets, training photos, feedback, and evaluation forms.
