Technical Requirements:

• Strong working knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.

• Practical experience with Oracle Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server.

• Ability to analyze complex queries, execution plans, indexes, database objects, stored procedures, functions, packages, and scheduled jobs.

• Working knowledge of database troubleshooting, performance optimization, locking/blocking, connectivity, data consistency, and transaction-related issues.

• Experience with data reconciliation, correction, migration, and validation involving financial or transactional data.

• Working knowledge of Oracle BI Publisher, including: Report layouts, Data models, Parameters, Catalog management, Report troubleshooting

• Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, or deploying enterprise applications.

• Familiarity with application logs, database logs, server logs, and structured debugging techniques.

• Basic working knowledge of Linux/Unix commands and shell environments will be an advantage.

• Familiarity with Git, release/version control, ticketing systems, and structured change-management processes will be an advantage.

• Exposure to Java or other application development technologies will be an added advantage.

Business & Functional Requirements:

• Basic understanding of Capital Market business operations such as: Broker house back-office operations, Merchant banking operations, Investor/client account management, Trade and transaction processing, Settlement and reconciliation, Charges, commissions, fees, and financial accounting, Portfolio and position reporting, Regulatory and management reporting

• Knowledge of the Bangladesh capital market ecosystem and related regulatory/market institutions will be an added advantage.

• Candidates without direct Capital Market experience must demonstrate strong willingness and ability to learn the domain quickly.

Professional Requirements:

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.

• Ability to investigate production problems systematically and identify root causes rather than only applying temporary fixes.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to business users and client personnel.

• Ability to manage multiple clients and concurrent incidents based on business impact and priority.

• Good documentation and incident-reporting discipline.

• Ability to remain calm and methodical during critical production incidents.

• Strong sense of accountability for data integrity and production system reliability.

• Ability to guide Junior Software Engineers and review their technical findings.

• Willingness to work collaboratively with Development, QA, Infrastructure, MIS, Implementation, and Business teams.

• Professional certifications in Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, Linux, or related technologies will be an added advantage.

Job Purpose

The Software Engineer will provide L2/L3 application, database, reporting, deployment, and operational support for Capital Market solutions used by broker houses, merchant banks, and other financial institutions.

The role requires a strong combination of SQL/database troubleshooting, production support discipline, business-data understanding, client communication, and release/deployment capability. The engineer will take ownership of complex incidents, perform root-cause analysis, support migrations and upgrades, and guide junior team members while coordinating with Development, QA, Infrastructure, MIS, and client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Application & Production Support

• Provide L2/L3 support for Capital Market back-office applications used by broker houses and merchant banks.

• Own investigation and resolution of complex production incidents within agreed SLA and escalation procedures.

• Analyze application errors, database issues, business-data inconsistencies, interfaces, reports, and operational problems.

• Perform structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring or high-impact incidents and recommend permanent corrective actions.

• Reproduce application defects and provide Development teams with complete technical evidence, including SQL results, logs, data conditions, screenshots, reproduction steps, and impact analysis.

• Coordinate critical trading-day incidents to minimize disruption to client operations.

Database Support & Data Integrity

• Diagnose and resolve Oracle and MS SQL Server-related issues.

• Develop, review, and optimize SQL/PLSQL queries used for troubleshooting, reconciliation, reporting, and support activities.

• Analyze database performance issues and recommend appropriate indexing or query optimization.

• Perform controlled data correction only through approved procedures with proper validation, backup, authorization, and audit evidence.

• Reconcile transactional, financial, portfolio, settlement, and report data to ensure accuracy and consistency.

• Assist in maintaining database objects, stored procedures, functions, jobs, and related application components.

Data Migration & Implementation

• Participate in migration of data from legacy or third-party Capital Market applications.

• Perform: Source-to-target mapping, Data cleansing, Transformation validation, Record-count reconciliation, Financial-balance reconciliation, Exception analysis, Post-migration validation

• Support application and database installation in new client environments.

• Coordinate technical activities during implementation, migration, upgrade, and go-live.

Release, Upgrade & Deployment

• Execute application releases, patches, database scripts, report updates, and configuration changes following approved release procedures.

• Validate pre-deployment prerequisites and perform post-deployment verification.

• Support version upgrades involving application components, database schemas, reports, and configurations.

• Maintain deployment records, rollback procedures, validation evidence, and release documentation.

• Coordinate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and client teams to minimize downtime and deployment risk.
