Job Summary
A Linux Server Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and securing Linux servers to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT operations. The role involves managing server infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting applications and users.
Key Responsibilities
Linux Server Management
Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
Manage server users, groups, permissions, and file systems.
Configure and manage server services and processes.
Server Monitoring & Performance
Monitor CPU, memory, disk usage, and system performance.
Identify and resolve server performance issues.
Ensure high availability and system reliability.
Security Management
Configure firewalls, SSH, and access controls.
Apply security patches and operating system updates.
Monitor system logs and investigate security incidents.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Configure and monitor server backup processes.
Maintain recovery procedures and test data restoration.
Support disaster recovery and business continuity.
Troubleshooting & Support
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related server issues.
Troubleshoot application deployment and service failures.
Provide technical support to development and IT teams.
Networking & Services
Configure DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, and other network services.
Manage web servers such as Apache and Nginx.
Support database and application server environments.
Automation & Documentation
Automate routine administrative tasks using Bash or Python.
Maintain server documentation, configurations, and operational procedures.
Use monitoring and configuration management tools where applicable.
