Experience:
Diploma/B.Sc. in EEE/ETE/CSE/ICT or equivalent.
1–2 years of experience in ISP/telecom fiber or transmission operations.
Good knowledge of fiber optic basics; hands-on use of OTDR, optical power meter, and basic splicing/patching practices preferred.
Knowledge and Experience on FTTH/FTTX network.
Basic knowledge of Ethernet/Layer-2 and IP networking.
Knowledge or hands-on experience on using Data Base/Software/Tools.
Knowledge of Backbone and PoP to PoP connectivity.
Willingness of being up to date with modern technology.
• Assign, supervise, and track the day-to-day activities of fiber technicians (installation, splicing, patching, fault restoration, and site visits).
• Maintain the technician duty roster, work logs, and daily activity reports.
• Verify technician conveyance bills against the work done and submit them for approval.
• Ensure technicians have the required tools and materials (splicing kit, OTDR, power meter, cables, connectors) and follow safety practices.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of links, fiber cables, routes, and ODF/patch panel ports, including used and free cores.
• Update the records after every installation, change, or fault restoration.
• Keep fiber route maps and link diagrams current, and audit the records against the field periodically.
• Commission new links: coordinate technicians, test (OTDR, optical power levels), patch, label, and hand over to the NOC/support team.
• Decommission old and unused links: disconnect, recover cores, ports, and equipment, and update the records.
• Plan commissioning and decommissioning work with a clear change plan and maintenance window, and record the test results for each link.
• Coordinate with NTTN providers for new link requests, capacity upgrades, relocations, and handover.
• Follow up on NTTN faults, restoration, and planned maintenance notices until closure.
• Maintain the NTTN contact list, circuit IDs, and a log of NTTN outages and requests.
• Respond to link-down, flapping, and degradation alerts; carry out first-level diagnosis and identify whether the fault is on our own fiber, the NTTN side, or equipment.
• Dispatch fiber technicians and follow each fault until it is restored.
• Log faults and root causes, report repeat faults and downtime to the supervisor, and prepare outage/RFO reports for customer-impacting incidents.
