Job Responsibilities:
∎ LEADERSHIP - of the machine operators under direction of the plant manager;
∎ COORDINATING - the fleet of IOM machines and machine operators;
∎ PRIORITIZING - supporting the information management team and plant manager in triaging and prioritizing projects;
∎ TRAINING - supporting the plant manager and mechanical team in training, monitoring, testing and evaluating the machine operators;
∎ MAINTAINING - the assigned machine in accordance with guidance from the mechanical coordinator. This will include but not be limited to the pre-start and post-work checks as well as reporting unusual signs of mechanical fault;
∎ REPORTING - collating records from the daily operations, activities, progress, location, hours worked and fuel received using a smart phone based application translated to Bangla;
∎ COORDINATING - with other SMEP colleagues in the design and delivery of project goals;
∎ PARTICIPATING - actively in weekly training to build operator competence and awareness of best practice;
∎ COLLABORATING - with other actors during delivery of SMEP duties;
∎ TRAVEL - coordinator should be willing to travel as far south as Leda and Nyapara and as far north as Ukhia to deliver duties;
∎ PUNCTUALITY - coordinators to exhibit qualities desired in the machine operators and should be ready to arrive at work sites at the time agreed with project supervisors;
∎ Will be involved in contributing and delivering improvements to processes and procedures;
∎ Perform other duties assigned by supervisor(s);
∎ On selection of the candidate, coordinator will be given a mechanical and operational evaluation which will internally certify the operator for activity;
∎ Operators will be required to demonstrate continued competence during monthly assessments which will take various forms.
∎ Perform any other responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 3 years of experience coordinating teams on complex projects
∎ Experience of training teams and translation between different languages
∎ The incumbent is expected to demonstrate the following technical and behavioural competencies
∎ Confidence in translation, coordination and leadership of large team of machine operators
∎ Capacity in computer reporting so as to generate daily/weekly/monthly reports on activities
∎ and operators where requested
∎ Ability to design excavations and safe operations, communicate to the engineer or supervisor and safely carry out
∎ Confidence to raise concern around unsafe requests of operation to prevent damage of machine or injury
∎ Concentration amid a difficult environment, with potential interferences with the public, externals, and third parties
∎ Maintenance of required national licences and certifications;
∎ Professional light (motorcycle weight below 2500 kg);
∎ Professional middle (2500 to 6500 kg of motor vehicle); and
∎ Professional heavy and extra (motor vehicle weight is more than 6500 kg)
∎ Maintenance of assigned machine, recognition of mechanical faults to be reported and awareness of pre-start check methodology
∎ Contributes to and follows team objectives
∎ Seeks input and feedback from others
∎ Able to work in a high-pressure environment and always shows a 'can-do' attitude.
∎ Language proficiency in Bangla & English
∎ Previous experience in UN, UN Affiliate or other International organizations is an advantage
∎ Having a motorbike license will also be advantageous.
Salary: Tk. 75000 (Monthly)
