Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world`s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox`s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ POSITION PROFILE:
∎ The Shelter /Vouchers Team Leader's (Engineer) is responsible for monitoring the progress of the activities (in coordination with care and maintenance distributions) such as TSA I implementation, training of volunteers and beneficiaries in the concept of construction and maintain their own shelters, construction or/and repairs and maintenance of shelters, rapid response for shelters repair and new shelter constructions. Under the supervision and guidance of the Shelter Manager this role will involve continual engagement in the refugee communities and support in overseeing all ongoing works. Capacity building of all technical teams and ensuring the constructions are carried out are of high quality and are done in a timely and safe manner. He/she will be always available for supporting and coordinating if requested with the various teams within the department.
∎ Plan, implement and manage construction tasks in accordance with priorities and goals
∎ Issue reports and progress updates
∎ Coordination and updates with Supply chain Department and in line with the material stock tracker
∎ Manage and monitor members attendance and work
∎ Adhere to relevant safety regulations
∎ Manage and guide the use of machinery and equipment if needed
∎ Monitor expenditures under the assigned activities
∎ Keep budget in check
∎ Resolve any emerging problems and issues on field
∎ Allocate and delegate responsibilities
∎ Supervise, train and give feedback to supervisees/volunteers/workers
∎ Understanding and utilizing appropriate construction materials in relation with the Shelter Cluster
∎ Ensuring the project complies with legal requirements especially health and safety
∎ Inspecting structures to check conditions/foundations
∎ Any other duties as agreed with the Shelter Manager or relevant line manager.
Additional Requirements:
∎ SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
∎ At least 4 years proven experience in construction and engineering
∎ Experience in using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word) would be an advantage
∎ Good knowledge of construction operations and equipment
∎ Good time-management skills
∎ Prior evidence of managing staff and team spirit; with excellent leadership skills including challenging, motivating and developing a team
∎ The ability to take the initiative and work independently as well work as a team player - supporting other departments is essential
∎ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
∎ Excellent organizational, problem-solving and negotiation skills
∎ Flexibility and capacity of adaptation to a changing working environment
∎ Willingness to live and work in a challenging environment with limited resources
