Solidaridad is also working to strengthen civic space for enhancing productivity and inclusivity in the textile value chain in Bangladesh.
∎ In the textiles industrial landscape, Solidaridad`s strategy focuses on responsible and inclusive textiles value chain to have sustainable market of Bangladesh textiles and apparel products and decent work and a fairer value in the chain. Solidaridad along with the stakeholders engage in dialogue for developing institutional process on knowledge and capacity for adoption of sustainable production technologies and decent work to align with the changing priorities of international brands.
∎ Position Overview
∎ As a Senior Project Officer-Gender in the textile industry, will play a vital role in promoting gender equality and women`s empowerment within the sector. S/he would be primary responsible to develop and implement initiatives that address gender-related issues, foster inclusivity, and by collaborating with various stakeholders, s/he will contribute to advancing gender-responsive policies, practices, and programs within the textile sector.
∎ Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager- Leather and Textiles and strategic support from national and regional technical expertise, the Senior Project Officer (Gender) S/he will have to assist in planning, supervising and managing the implementation of the project. The Senior Project Officer will be accountable for delivering results and responsible for achieving the milestones of the project. S/he will execute and manage the field mobilization, operation, managing and monitoring the partners, ensuring best optimization of budget, teams and resources.
∎ Employment Type: Project based fixed term
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop and implement gender modules for the women workers in the textile industry: Lead the design, planning, and execution of project aimed at promoting gender equality and women's empowerment within the textile industry. This includes support in research, managing partners, and developing platform to advocate for gender inclusive systems.
∎ Policy and program development: Collaborate with relevant departments and stakeholders to develop and implement gender-responsive policies, practices, and programs. Ensure these initiatives align with industry best practices and international standards.
∎ Capacity building and training: Organize and deliver training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns to enhance gender sensitivity and inclusivity among textile workers and management of the company. Provide guidance and support to managers and staff on integrating gender considerations into their work.
∎ Monitoring and evaluation: Establish monitoring mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of gender initiatives and identify areas for improvement. Regularly report on progress, outcomes, and challenges related to gender mainstreaming efforts in the textile industry.
∎ Coordination: Collaborate with partners to ensure project deliverables and outcomes are achieved. Conduct monthly reviews of financial and programmatic aspects.
∎ Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to promote cross-sectoral partnerships and knowledge sharing. Participate in industry events, conferences, and working groups to advocate for gender equality and contribute to sector-wide initiatives.
∎ Data analysis and reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret the data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare reports and presentations on gender-related topics, ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination.
∎ Perform the cross functional activities as per organisational need.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Proven experience working on gender-related projects or programs, preferably within the textile industry or a related sector.
∎ Strong knowledge of gender equality frameworks, international conventions, and best practices.
∎ Familiarity with labor standards and regulations within the textile industry.
∎ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
∎ Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills.
∎ Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
∎ Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
