Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Conduct reforestation activities in selected areas, ensuring compliance with plantation guidelines.
∎ Ensure maintenance of existing plantation/vegetation efforts so that project meets its ultimate goals
∎ Ensure collection of plantation data and prepare project reports
∎ Support the daily operational implementation of biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management, including forest, environment, and biodiversity-related initiatives. This may involve managing protected areas (both inland and marine), promoting sustainable financing, capacity building, and applying landscape approaches, including nature-based solutions addressing the nexus of biodiversity and climate change.
∎ Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguarding policies, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies in project implementation.
∎ Promote inclusive and ethical practices by safeguarding vulnerable groups, preventing exploitation, and ensuring community participation in decision-making.
∎ Monitor environmental and social impacts, implement grievance redress mechanisms, and report safeguarding concerns to relevant authorities.
∎ Conduct training and awareness sessions for staff and communities on environmental sustainability, social protection, and safeguarding best practices.
∎ Contributes to knowledge management for the working area, incl. analysing, summarising and presenting information on protected and conserved areas.
∎ Safeguarding:
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
∎ This position is responsible to plan, implement, supervise, and monitor environmental activities (forestry and bio-diversity management activities) closely with WFP’s and BRAC’s DRR unit including supervision of CFW beneficiaries.
