Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine.
Priority will be given to candidates with proven experience in implementing climate-resilient livestock or sustainable farming practices.
Know motor bike riding and must have valid license
Academic knowledge in Veterinary Medicine or relevant subject
Strong technical knowledge of climate-resilient livestock practices and technologies
Problem-solving and analytical skills to address challenges in livestock systems
Ability to work effectively in rural and remote areas with limited resources

The Senior Project Officer-Climate Resilience Livestock, will be responsible for promoting and implementing climate-resilient livestock management practices to enhance the productivity, sustainability, and adaptability of livestock systems regarding climate change. The role involves working closely with livestock farmers, veterinary services, local government authorities, and other stakeholders to integrate climate-smart strategies into livestock production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in livestock management, climate change adaptation, and community engagement.
Lead the implementation of climate-resilient livestock initiatives at the field level, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives
Promote the adoption of climate-smart livestock practices, such as improved feeding strategies, housing management, breed selection, and disease management
Conduct training sessions, workshops, and demonstrations for livestock farmers on climate-resilient practices
Develop training materials and extension tools tailored to local contexts and farmer needs
Provide technical guidance to SHGs members on livestock health, nutrition, housing, and breeding
Support the adoption of innovative technologies
Work closely with livestock farmer groups, SHGs to foster collective action and knowledge sharing
Monitor the progress and impact of climate-resilient livestock interventions, collecting data on key performance indicators
Prepare regular reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges for submission to the management
Ensure proper training for the vaccinators and linkage with LSPs
Promote and ensure adherence to safeguarding policies within the team, integrating safeguarding standards in all project activities
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
