Educational Requirements:

Job Context:
∎ Duration of the contract: 1 year with possibility for extension
∎ Reporting to: Head of Programs

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Design and implement disaster risk reduction and adaptation initiatives
∎ Coordinate and work together with the counterpart at Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to develop, implement, and monitor program activities;
∎ To assist BDRCS/CPP/IFRC/American Red Cross in documentation of case studies, stories, visibility, etc. and to assist in profiling good practices and lessons learned
∎ Work with the scientific and humanitarian community to identify context and hazard specific early actions that can be implemented before any disaster; based on the forecasts;
∎ Work with relevant actors at relevant levels in implementing forecast-based actions to prevent and/or reduce loss of damage due to disasters;
∎ Develop annual operational plan and budget and implement the plan as agreed with the donors and partners;
∎ Frequently visit the program areas and support the BDRCS field team in planning and monitoring activities and submit regular finding reports to the program team or supervisor
∎ To maintain a regular flow of information on the program to the BDRCS/CPP/IFRC/American Red Cross program team
∎ Support the information management of the American Red Cross/BDRCS for the program
∎ To assist in the training (on-the-job) the BDRCS Unit/program staff on program related matters like narrative reporting, program preparation, implementation and management.
∎ To facilitate the process of IEC materials development and dissemination, evaluation at field level.
∎ In the event of disaster, assist/support the Federation DM team in assessment, planning, implementation and coordination of relief operations as directed by American Red Cross Country Representative and Head of Program
∎ Ensure visibility of the projects/programmes in support of donor requirements
∎ Support BDRCS to design, organize and facilitate programme training, workshops, meeting as well as to develop appropriate training programmes and training materials relevant to the DRR projects/programmes.
∎ Draft program reports, budget overviews, proposals, information/knowledge products, and IEC materials;
∎ Ensure community engagement and accountability principles of Red Cross/Red Crescent are always enhanced through your work
∎ Design and implement qualitative and quantitative research, action research, and assessments;
∎ Represent the Movement and Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction Program in external meetings and workshops;
∎ Support BDRCS, IFRC and CPP to effectively assess, design, plan and implement program activities;
∎ Monitor and review project budget- prepare monthly budget overview in consultation with the finance team and support the financial management of the programme/project;
∎ Work as a team member and share views in a timely and appropriate manner;
∎ Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the field of Development/Humanitarian sector
∎ Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing community based DRR and climate change adaptation initiatives
∎ Experience and skills in facilitation
∎ Experience of working for a humanitarian or development organisation and/or the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement
∎ Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spread sheets, word-processing)
∎ Self-supporting in program management, monitoring and evaluation tools
∎ Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spread sheets, word-processing)
∎ Mobility and flexibility, willing to work in the multi-cultural team
∎ Good interpersonal and intercultural skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and build relationships at all levels
∎ Report writing skill
∎ Good knowledge of the RC/RC principles, Code of Conduct, Humanitarian standards (e.g. SPHERE, RBA, HAP)
∎ Fluency in English and Bangla.
