Educational Requirements:
∎ Master's degree in a social science, anthropology, nutrition or public health discipline with a qualitative research focus.
Job Context:
∎ Description of position: This position will be the technical lead on field research involving qualitative methods at the JiVitA field site located in Gaibandha with project HQ in Rangpur.
∎ Job Location: Rangpur with frequent field visits in Gaibandha.
∎ Duration: One year (contractual)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Team management:
∎ Supervise interview and data collection by a small team of qualitative interviewers.
∎ Ensure participatory team management in Quality Interviewer's team.
∎ Leave management of Female Interviewer of quality research.
∎ Development of Data Collection Tools and Guidelines:
∎ Participate in the process of development of qualitative data collection questionnaires including translation of data collection tools in Bangla for collecting qualitative and quantitative data from women under reproductive age.
∎ Prepare guideline and methodology on procedure of qualitative interview procedure and technique, both English and Bangla.
∎ Keep record of changes in guideline and methodology in the course of study.
∎ Training and Quality Control:
∎ Plan, coordinate and facilitate training qualitative interviewer on data collections questionnaires and guideline/procedure.
∎ Organize "need based" refresher training for qualitative interviewer in the course of study.
∎ Ensure the adherence of standard guideline/ methods for qualitative data collection by regular visit in the field.
∎ Compile Interview data:
∎ Note taking, Transcription and coding of qualitative data and compile comprehensive reports to aid in data analysis.
∎ Communication and Relationship:
∎ Maintaining communications with Executive Manager (Research) and the Johns Hopkins University team to provide regular updates on progress of interview, noticeable key themes and timelines. ,
∎ Maintain liaison and coordination with partner organizations for technical support.
∎ Others:
∎ File weekly progress reports on project activities.
∎ Creative problem solving abilities.
∎ Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
∎ Deadline driven and very strong attention to detail.
∎ Professional demeanor and cooperative spirit.
∎ Any other duty as directed by JHU investigators and Executive Manager (Research).
Additional Requirements:
∎ Have proven experience and skills in conducting qualitative interviews.
∎ Experience training data collectors in qualitative methods.
∎ Experience in detailed note taking and transcription and coding.
∎ Experience with software (e.g. Atlas t.i. or alternatives) coding and analysis of qualitative data.
∎ Fluency in Bangla and English.
