About the Project:

BRAC intends to implement an upcoming project to establish the foundation for a sustainable, inclusive, and operationally efficient solid waste management system in Pabna Municipality. The project will support targeted interventions aimed at strengthening the overall urban waste management ecosystem, including improving waste containment and collection systems, enhancing the capacity of waste workers, promoting behaviour change, and expanding community-based resource recovery and recycling systems. The duration of this project will be for one year.

Position: Senior Officer, Advocacy and Partnership; Urban Development Programme (Project Staff)

Job Purpose: The Senior Officer, Advocacy and Partnership role is to strengthen collaboration among local government, private sector, communities, and informal recycling actors to improve city waste management systems. The role focuses on building partnerships, engaging key stakeholders, supporting waste segregation and recycling efforts, enhancing municipal capacity, and promoting sustainable, long-term waste management practices through advocacy and stakeholder coordination.

Job Description:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local government authorities, private sector actors, communities, and informal waste and recycling stakeholders.

  • Identify, map, and engage recyclers and other key value chain actors to strengthen linkages for waste segregation, collection, and recycling.

  • Support the development of strategic partnerships to improve coordination and collaboration among waste sector stakeholders.

  • Facilitate dialogue and coordination between municipality, private sector, and community actors to improve service delivery in waste management.

  • Support municipal capacity strengthening initiatives related to waste management systems, planning, and stakeholder coordination.

  • Identify partnership opportunities that support resource recovery, recycling, and circular economy approaches at the city level.

  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, meetings, and coordination platforms to ensure effective implementation of project interventions.

  • Contribute to documentation of partnership processes, lessons learned, and successful models for scale-up and replication.

  • Ensure gender equality, social inclusion, and participation of marginalized groups (including women waste workers) in all activities.

  • SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
