Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Manage end-to-end product development, ensuring the right quality, vendor, price, and on-time delivery.
∎ Regularly communicate with buyers to provide updates on production and shipment status.
∎ Independently handle assigned product categories, serving as the key communicator for those areas.
∎ Coordinate all operational activities from proto sample development to production tracking, fabric and trim development, and WIP follow-ups.
∎ Communicate order details and requirements to suppliers/production units, managing the entire process pre and post order placement.
∎ Negotiate prices with suppliers as designated by the Merchandise Manager/Assistant Merchandise Manager.
∎ Control and track critical paths, forecast delays, and take proactive action plans to ensure on-time delivery.
∎ Identify and resolve production problems, presenting alternatives to buyers and line seniors.
∎ Assign tasks to subordinates, overseeing their activities, and providing guidance/support as needed.
∎ Monitor production in assigned factories, maintaining liaison with QA Depts/Factory Mgt Team for quality, inspections, and delivery deadlines.
∎ Handle product development, costing, price negotiation, order management, and new vendor factory sourcing/development.
∎ Manage lab dips, bulk fabric color, and quality submissions.
∎ Approve packing materials and ensure timely submission of sampling approvals.
∎ Follow up on T&A (WIP) regularly and ensure reporting on-time delivery.
∎ Collaborate with buyers and suppliers to negotiate prices, quantities, and timescales.
∎ Build constructive customer relationships with channel partners.
∎ Maintain clear and timely communication with internal and external partners.
∎ Ensure vendor/factory make schedules for inspection.
∎ Coordinate with the compliance team for FE renewals and factory corrective action plans.
∎ Report regularly to the team leader.
∎ Must have experience handling European and American buyers.
∎ Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing buyers and identify new business opportunities.
∎ Lead and supervise the merchandising team to ensure timely execution of orders and compliance with quality standards.
∎ Collaborate with the production and sourcing teams for smooth processes and timely delivery.
∎ Review product development and costing for competitiveness in the market.
∎ Negotiate pricing and terms with buyers to maximize profitability and maintain customer satisfaction.
∎ Stay updated on industry trends, market demands, and competitor activities for strategic decision-making.
∎ Conduct regular visits to buyer offices and production units to address issues and maintain strong business relationships.
∎ Prepare and analyze sales forecasts, budgets, and reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
∎ Provide leadership and guidance to the merchandising team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
