∎ At least 7 years of experience, particularly in the area of staff and child safeguarding / HR preferably in reputed INGOs and development agencies
∎ The person should also have worked in a managerial capacity / supervisory role for at least 3 years.
∎ Experience in training and partners’ capacity building.
∎ Demonstrated ability to safeguard children
∎ Must be able to understand and demonstrate Save the Children’s vision, mission and values and of the Child and staff safeguarding policy.
∎ Must be able to work with community people, volunteers, partner organization staff and local child safeguarding support systems in a culture-sensitive way.
∎ A Flexible approach to work with a willingness to assist with the provision of Child Safeguarding policy when there are staff and technical capacity shortfalls.
∎ Excellent in report writing

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Child and Adult (staff/ adult beneficiaries) safeguarding is a business-critical issue for Save the Children. As such SC has made different policies to ensure safeguarding of all. SC’s mission and the people it serves are of paramount importance and the representatives of the organization must have a safe working environment to effectively function. It is mandatory and implies to all of its representatives, including the partners and volunteers. Following the global standard, in order to make sure that we, including our other representatives, “Do No Harm” to children, adult beneficiaries and staffs. However, given the huge operational activities and geographical coverage, it is a necessity for a dedicated staff for the Country Office to ensure that the system is followed everywhere in a consistent manner and any violations and concerns are managed on time and as per SCI policies and procedures.
∎ Working with the key stakeholders, the Safeguarding Lead is expected to play a key role in facilitating the development and implementation of an all-inclusive Safeguarding framework for Save the Children in Bangladesh, including the large operation is running in Cox’s Bazar. The position holder will act as the Country office Focal person for Child Safeguarding and Adult Safeguarding for Bangladesh Country Office to maintain the safeguarding framework (Awareness, Prevention, Reporting and Responding). S/he will map out the child and adult safeguarding infrastructure to understand the local/country context and identify location-based entities that can provide support/ referrals in the case of an incident. S/he will develop strategy with an emphasis on setting boundaries in relation to SCI direct and indirect responsibilities towards staff, partners, any other representative, communities, external parties; considering local customs and practices. S/he will undertake Safeguarding investigations, sometimes in challenging environments and to rigorous timescales and standards, in coordination with the HR Director and the International Child Safeguarding Director/Regional HR Director –Asia. S/he will work actively with partnership team to build the capacity of partners’ staff on Child and Adult safeguarding. S/he will also manage the safeguarding reporting management system (DATIX) for documentation and closure of the cases.
