∎ Minimum 5 years’ experience in market systems, value chain, or private sector development with expertise in building partnerships and designing inclusive solutions for marginalized groups, preferably in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Conduct in-depth market and value chain assessments using participatory and analytical tools to identify opportunities for interventions and inform programming decisions.
∎ Identify key systemic constraints and opportunities for leverage across selected sectors (e.g., agriculture, aquaculture, inputs, services, financial markets).
∎ Monitor and analyze market trends and shocks to adapt program strategies and ensure that interventions remain relevant.
∎ Contribute to the development of program strategies, work plans, and reports, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Co-develop Market Systems Development (MSD) intervention strategies aligned with climate resilience and pro-poor principles.
∎ In collaboration with the programme team, develop strategies for private sector engagement in livelihood, financial inclusion and WASH services.
∎ Engage with and facilitate partnerships between private sector actors, producer organizations, government, and service providers.
∎ Support market actors in piloting and scaling inclusive, climate-smart business models or services.
∎ Capacity Building & Relationship Management
∎ Build the capacity of program teams and partners on MSD principles, gender integration, and adaptive learning.
∎ Provide technical guidance and support to field teams in implementing market-based interventions such as value chain upgrading, market linkage development, and business service provision.
∎ Work closely with MEL teams to capture and apply learning for adaptive management.
∎ Develop and adapt results chains, indicators, and learning questions in line with Donor Committee for Enterprise Development standards.
∎ Oversee the implementation of MSD activities, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.
∎ Integrate gender equality, youth empowerment, and environmental/climate resilience into all MSD interventions.
∎ Promote inclusive participation and voice of marginalized groups in market systems.
∎ Establish a safeguarding culture across all level of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

∎ Job Purpose
∎ The Senior Analyst, Market Systems and Private Sector Engagement will lead the design and guide the adaptation of inclusive market systems development strategies to improve the resilience, productivity, and incomes of vulnerable populations, particularly smallholder farmers and women, in IDP and UPG working areas, with particular focus on climate hot spots. The role ensures that interventions are sustainable, market-driven, and deliver systemic change. S/he will contribute to the overall strategy and program development, in alignment with the strategic goals of both programmes.
∎ Key Responsibilities
∎ Market Systems Analysis & Strategy Development
