Job Responsibilities:
∎ Reporting to the National Security Operations Support Officer, the Security Associate will be responsible for the following duties:
∎ Review security threats and risks in detail and compile accurate reports on trends and situations that could adversely impact WFP operations, in order to ensure information is accurately collated and sent to senior security staff to support reporting and decision making;
∎ Review security-related information (e.g. security incidents and events, security support to daily activities, etc.) and use corporate or local information management tools to produce a range of analyses and in-depth reports, to ensure that information is readily available for relevant stakeholders;
∎ Liaise and co-ordinate with local administration, security and law enforcement authorities, communities, UN/NGO security staff, and other actors, to facilitate access for safe programme delivery and to mitigate potential risks against staff and other resources;
∎ Plan and coordinate staff activities during field missions and perform security assessments within the area of responsibility to support safe and effective programme delivery;
∎ Analyze security assessment reports following field missions and present detailed recommendations for risk mitigation to support security situation analysis and facilitate decision-making;
∎ Assist in advising the Management on security risk management matters and safety issues in compliance with the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS);
∎ Support the implementation of risk management mitigation measures, including eSRM standards ensuring compliance;
∎ Maintain a close working relationship with the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and appropriate WFP security personnel regarding all aspects of mission/program safety and security;
∎ Provides advice and training to UN personnel and eligible dependents on security matters, as assigned;
∎ Investigates security-related incidents involving UN personnel, project personnel or eligible dependents;
∎ Contributes to the identification of gaps in existing capability and make a recommendation for amendment where necessary;
∎ Assists in planning of protective services for Senior UN Officials, as necessary;
∎ Draft routine correspondence to respond to inquiries in respect to relevant administrative and personnel matters; schedule meetings and appointments; maintain files of administrative instructions and other rules and regulations; provide guidance and training to other administrative assistants;
∎ Perform the duties of the National Officer in his/her absence;
Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in a humanitarian or United Nations Professional Security role with 2 years of experience in Bangladesh Military or Law Enforcement roles is required. Additional experience in government or private sector dynamic environment and experience with marine-related operations is highly desirable.
∎ Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Bangla is a requirement.
