• Know motor bike riding and must have valid license

• Problem-solving and analytical skills to address challenges in livestock systems.

Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

The Sector Specialist-Value chain development, Livestock will lead the design and implementation of livestock-based value chain interventions to improve productivity, resilience, and market access for smallholder farmers. The role focuses on strengthening market systems, promoting sustainable livestock practices, fostering private sector partnerships, and enhancing climate-resilient livestock production.

Livestock Value Chain Development

  • Lead implementation of climate-resilient livestock initiatives aligned with project goals.

  • Support ACs and ABSCs in developing commercially viable livestock business models.

  • Facilitate livestock market linkages, input supply, and mechanization partnerships.

Capacity Building and Technical Support

  • Provide training and technical guidance to SHGs, lead farmers, ACs, ABSCs, and project staff.

  • Develop extension tools and training materials tailored to local contexts.

  • Ensure proper training and guidance for vaccinators and technical teams.

Promotion of Climate-Resilient Practices

  • Promote adoption of sustainable livestock practices, including feeding, housing, breeding, and disease management.

  • Introduce innovative technologies for improved livestock productivity.

  • Monitor progress and impact of livestock interventions using key performance indicators.

Community Engagement and Knowledge Sharing

  • Work closely with livestock farmer groups and SHGs to foster collective action and knowledge exchange.

  • Facilitate participatory approaches to encourage farmer ownership and adoption of best practices.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare regular reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges.

Safeguarding:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
