Project Brief:

Prottasha-II is a flagship project for the reintegration of Bangladeshi returnee migrants. The European Union (EU) is funding a four-year-long project titled “Improved Sustainable Reintegration of Bangladeshi Returnee Migrants (Prottasha II).” BRAC has already implemented Prottasha Phase I in 64 districts of Bangladesh. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the long-term sustainable reintegration of Bangladeshi returnee men, women, and children migrants and promote safe migration.  The project will work to ensure the sustainable reintegration of Bangladeshi returnees and their families into their communities in a gender-sensitive manner. The project focuses on interventions at every step of the returnees’ journey once they reach Bangladesh, from enhancing access to needs-based arrival assistance to sustainable and gender-sensitive reintegration services (psychosocial, social, and economic) in their “home” communities.  The project is also working to enhance the awareness of aspiring migrants about the risks associated with irregular migration and migrant smuggling and to promote knowledge and understanding of safe migration. The project is scheduled to conclude in June 2027.

Job Purpose:

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the economic reintegration activities of the Migration and Reintegration Support Centre under the Prottahsa Project. S/he will closely supervise the Programme Organizers of the respective upazilas and facilitate volunteers in providing reintegration support to returnee migrants. The role includes arranging and facilitating issue-based trainings and events, maintaining documentation, preparing periodic reports and project MIS, and ensuring effective communication with local stakeholders, including duty bearers, local government institutions, journalists, and returnee forums, to support smooth field implementation and advocacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with/under the guidance and supervision of the respective MRSC Coordinator

  • Supervise POs working in project under respective Migration and Reintegration Support Centre and provide continuous guidance to the team for ensuring quality programme implementation / field operations

  • Regularly field visit and facilitate field activities for ensuring better outcome of project.

    Arrange and provide Financial Literacy training and Entrepreneurship Development training to returnees and their families as they can utilize their remittance in productive way

  • Strengthen and establish community level business/advisory group to support business and provide linkage with key stakeholders

  • Provide independent financial services support, including debt mediation services for returnee migrants, service advocacy, business development and job placement

  • Coordinate and make follow-up of returnee profiling, develop and maintain online database

  • Liaise with local level industries/institutes and projects for managing job placement for the returnees

  • Establish community enterprise in selected project areas including the development of economic infrastructure in key returnee locations

  • Provide access to skills training for returnees, including local market skills, skills for economic infrastructure and internationally recognized skills qualifications

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation, including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so.
