Lab Implementation and Management (Primary Focus)

• Planning & Procurement: Develop a comprehensive strategy for establishing a fully compliant internal fabric and accessories testing lab. Define the scope, prepare the required equipment list and coordinate the procurement, installation and commissioning of all necessary testing machinery.
• Layout & Environment: Design the optimal lab layout, ensuring adherence to national and international safety standards, and establishing proper environmental controls (temperature, humidity, ventilation) for precise testing.
• Accreditation: Drive the process for achieving relevant local and international lab accreditation (e.g., ISO or specific Major Buyer Laboratory Approval) by documenting procedures and liaising with external auditors.
• Staff Development: Recruit, train, supervise and mentor a team of lab technicians, fostering a culture of high accuracy, safety and continuous improvement.

Fabric & Accessories Testing and Compliance

• Compliance Management: Maintain and control all local and overseas testing activities by strictly complying with all relevant buyer-specific requirements and standards. This includes interpreting buyer manuals, implementing required test methods and ensuring documentation satisfies all audit criteria.
• Testing Execution: Oversee and personally conduct a full range of physical and chemical tests on all incoming and in-process fabrics (knits and wovens) and accessories:
  • Color Fastness: Washing, Rubbing (Crocking), Light, Perspiration, etc.
  • Physical Properties: Tensile/Tear Strength, Seam Slippage, Pilling Resistance, Shrinkage, GSM.
  • Chemical Analysis: pH testing, Formaldehyde content and initial screening for restricted substances (RSL/MRSL).
• Methodology & Standardization: Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all testing based on international standards (AATCC, ASTM, ISO) and specific protocols required by our key customers (e.g., M&S, H&M, Next).
• Garment Quality Integration: Possess superior knowledge and understanding of standard garment quality, construction techniques and failure points. Use this knowledge to interpret raw material test results in the context of the final product performance.
• Quality Control: Analyze test reports, validate results and provide clear, timely recommendations for material acceptance or rejection.
• Troubleshooting: Act as the technical expert to investigate fabric quality failures and non-conformities, collaborating with Dyeing, Finishing, and Production teams on effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Additional Responsibilities (Accessories)

• Perform and supervise basic physical tests on accessories (buttons, zippers, trims, elastic) such as attachment strength, dimension stability, and fatigue resistance.
• Ensure all accessories comply with safety and performance requirements relevant to the final garment.
