ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 283 upazilas under 49 districts of Bangladesh covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.
∎ Forewarn Bangladesh has started its journey in November 2019. It’s a part of Global Forewarn initiative under Start Network. In the process of localizing the technical capacity for Start Network members in countries, Forewarn Bangladesh has been supporting Start Fund Bangladesh (SFB) Members since its birth. Forewarn Bangladesh is very much focusing to bring the knowledge for SFB members to anticipate risks and be proactive rather than responsive to disasters.
∎ The risk monitoring officer is responsible for monitoring the natural hazard risks regularly and reporting back to relevant forewarn expert groups. S/he is responsible for providing all kind of monitoring data, archive the risk information and analysis the data. Under the leadership of Forewarn Bangladesh Coordinator, s/he will be working with Forewarn Team and Forewarn Expert Groups. Under the partnership with Save the Children UK, ESDO is Hosting Forecast-based, Warning, Analysis, and Response Network (FOREWARN) in Bangladesh with the funding of The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO). ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.
∎ The service contact will be initially for one year .
∎ Reportable to: FOREWARN Bangladesh Coordinator .

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Working with Forewarn Bangladesh to monitor hazard risks with the support of Start Fund Bangladesh (SFB) members and the communities at risk
∎ Carry out all the tasks relevant to risk monitoring and risk analyses by Forewarn Bangladesh Coordinator
∎ Develop the risk database for SFB members use
∎ Support Forewarn Expert Groups with data and follow up with them in data relevant activities
∎ Share available forecasting from BMD, FFWC, ECMWF, GFS with SFB members and monitoring the hazard triggers developed by Forewarn Expert Groups
∎ Document learnings and archive data

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 45 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection, validation, entry, and analysis using statistical software and drafting skills.
∎ Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working on R and SPSS (Knowing Python would be an advantage)
∎ Knowledge and experience of using research/survey concept, approaches, tools, techniques, methodologies, sampling, etc.
∎ Ability to produce high quality work under tight time frames.
∎ Evidence of having undertaken similar assignments
∎ Ability to travel extensively to working locations and willing to stay at field

Salary:
∎ Monthly gross salary is BDT 36000; In addition to above, other benefits include provident fund, gratuity, and festival bonus.
