Education:
University education in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Linguistics, Anthropology, Conflict Resolution, Gender Studies, Law, or related field. Masters preferred.
In cases of candidates with substantial work experience in similar profiles, an educational background that develops planning and organization.
Previous experience working with vulnerable communities or refugees in a similar context.
Minimum three years of protection or human rights work experience with a minimum of two years’ experience in General Protection.
Direct Protection implementation experience including group facilitation and protection analysis.
Experience in Cox’s Bazar humanitarian response with an international NGO or UN active in the Protection Sector, GBV sub sector and/or Child Protection Sub Sector is required. Experience in closely related academic, journalistic or developmental work may be considered.
Experience in protection interventions including in technical supervision capacity.
Experience in Protection sensitive representation for an organization on cross cutting issues.
Good communication and capacity-building skills.
Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Kobo, Activity Info, Power BI).
Good organizational and management skills.
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened an area office in Cox’s Bazar, and a country office in Dhaka.
POSITION PROFILE
The Protection Team Leader (Protection Monitoring and Community-based Protection) will primarily ensure quality implementation of all protection monitoring (PM) and community-based protection (CBP) activities within DRC Cox’s Bazar protection programme. He/she is responsible for supervising the PM and CBP teams. Together with the Protection Project Manager and Protection Coordinator, the selected candidate will provide technical guidance and training on protection monitoring, protection analysis, CBP, community engagement, and other relevant protection topics.
He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the programming meets IASC, DRC Global and DRC Bangladesh standards. He/she will manage officers and assistants.
