Job Context:
∎ Purpose of the role:
∎ Lead and coordinate the activities of specific segments of APAC rice breeding in improving performance of Syngenta rice germplasm by developing competitive and profitable products that meet performance and production standards for target market segments within the territory.
∎ Lead execution of precision breeding strategy for product development and commercialize hybrids that supply the Seeds & Traits portfolios for slender to bold grain segments.
∎ Job Location: Bogura, R&D site
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Prepare and lead in breeding strategy, designing, planning, and implementing breeding projects, development of superior lines and hybrids for specific breeding segments in Bangladesh/south Asia.
∎ Provides technical leadership and insight to prioritize develop, implement, and advance innovations into the pipeline and as well support market development and national, regional brands that support the seed & trait portfolios.
∎ Designs, develops, implements, and executes technical strategy required for product development (from 1st year of yield trial testing to Commercialization) aligned with product concepts and portfolio needs to deliver genetic gain in the short and long term for Rice Bold/MB/Slender Grain pipelines.
∎ Interacts with partners in Field testing and operations, Analytics and Pipeline Design, Product Design, Market Development and Regional Marketing to assure implementation of technical strategy for developing new commercial products.
∎ Supports new product launches with our national and regional brands as well as Market Development.
∎ Supports key projects on implementation of precision breeding technical innovations in product development in APAC Region.
∎ Supports the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance and Human Rights policies and culture in the site and team.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 4-6 years of experience in hybrid rice breeding and evaluation trial.
∎ Knowledge and skills on different experimental design and statistical analytical procedure, Agronomy practices, disease & pest identification and solutions, yield contributing characteristics of relevant Crops.
∎ Strong problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to influence colleagues at all levels and operates effectively as proactive way.
∎ Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
∎ Ability to work in a fast moving, changing environment, excellent interpersonal relationship skill.
∎ Having strong knowledge on Agricultural related testing instruments and techniques.
∎ Demonstrate devotion, willingness to work in extended hours and stress conditions.
∎ Excellent IT knowledge especially for MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet skills
∎ Experience in data processing and assessment (using statistical methods and IT tools)
∎ Proficiency in oral and written communication in English
