Educational Requirements:
∎ Master's degree in Agronomy/ Soil Sciences /Horticulture or other related field agriculture with at least 6 years of professional experience in agriculture including designing, implementing, and analyzing agronomic on-station and on-farm trials
∎ A PhD in relevant subject area would be an added advantage.

∎ Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change.
∎ This position will be based at the IRRI Country Office, Bangladesh and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Bangladesh.
∎ Job Purpose
∎ The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dynamic Agronomist as Associate Scientist to support the implementation of the project "Potato production through zero-tillage with straw mulch: an innovative technology for sustainable intensification and diversification of rice-based systems to improve livelihoods of small-scale farmers in Asia" in Khulna, Bangladesh.
∎ Under the general supervision of Senior Project Manager, will support the implementation of the project`s research plans to contribute with the research findings and publications and will travel frequently in-country and work under field conditions. This position will be based in Khulna, Bangladesh and will report to the Senior Project Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Purpose
∎ Address and solve operational issues and project need
∎ Research support solutions
∎ Contribute with seminars and workshops
∎ Contribute with the elaboration and publication of papers in peer review journals, reports and scientific publications
∎ Get information about the research topic
∎ Project management and coordinating several research-for-development activities
∎ Engagement
∎ Manage research data generated from field trials to maintain an accurate and updated database system.
∎ Design and develop an experiment according to a variety of methods, availability and quantity of resources to contribute with the main research project.
∎ Organize capacity building activities as training events and workshops to strengthen parties for mutual benefits
∎ Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures
∎ Coordinate and interact with external partners through the development of the research project to guarantee the correct execution and timing of the project.
∎ Coordinate mainstreaming of gender sensitive project interventions, through support and promotion of gender through the project.
∎ Delivery
∎ Conduct research plans and projects to contribute with the research findings and publications.
∎ Evaluate and analyze the data collected in the research project to guarantee its accuracy and relevance to the project outline.
∎ Produce progress reports of the experiments on regular basis to contribute with the data collection
∎ Analyze and evaluate facts and new experiment's findings to contribute with the research analysis and publication results.
∎ Supervise research activities in different settings to guarantee the experiments implementation and execution is being followed correctly
∎ Preparation of reports and scientific publications
∎ Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor from time to time
Additional Requirements:
∎ Mandatory
∎ Knowledge on field and laboratory equipment management
∎ Database management and advanced knowledge of database work
∎ Experience in using digital data collection tool
∎ Advanced level knowledge on MS Office
∎ Knowledge on preparation of reports and scientific publications
∎ Knowledge on statistical research analysis
∎ Knowledge on experimental design, planning and managing field experiments
∎ Experience in soil analysis (C, N, P, texture, bulk density, salinity, soil microbiology activity indicators) and nutrients-soil fertility management is highly desirable.
∎ Preferred
∎ Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, additional communication skills in Bangla are an additional asset
∎ Field-based rural development project promoting agricultural or other technological innovation, preferably in potato
∎ Knowledge of social science research, including gender research is desirable.
∎ Good record of scientific and technical publications
∎ Working experience with CGIAR(Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research) would be an added advantage.
∎ Experience in project management and coordinating several research-for-development activities.
Salary:
∎ Basic (40,642 - 76,242) BDT per Month
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Housing Allowance: 30% of base pay per month, Transport Allowance: BDT 12,000, Festival Bonus: 2 times each year, Contributory Provident Fund (CPF), Returning Mother Allowance: BDT 2,000 per month for 9 months to female employees post-delivery of a baby to support return to the workplace, Medical insurance coverage: maximum US$16,000/year and other admissible benefits
