  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related behavioral science field; or a Medical Graduate (MBBS) with complete internship training, including standard clinical training rotation within a psychiatry placement and post-graduate training in Psychiatry.

  • Age At least 24 years
  • Demonstrated experience or training in clinical documentation, case note management, and mental health research.

  • Prior experience working directly with community-based mental health programs, psychosocial task-shifting initiatives is an asset.

  • Understanding of psychological history-taking, symptom identification, and psychological case formulation.

  • Contextual fluency in Bengali, with skills to flag regional metaphors and terminology used to describe variations in mental state.

  • Ability to generate structured, analytical qualitative reports and clinical documentation summaries in English.

  • Familiarity with qualitative analysis techniques or structural coding principles is highly valued.

Job Description:

As a Research Officer at mPower, you will bridge the gap between community mental health counseling encounters and structured framework analysis. Utilizing your clinical or psychological background, and the on-job training provided, you will analyze session notes and counseling transcripts to isolate structural stressors, environmental determinants, and localized expressions of distress. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who wants to shape culturally grounded, ethically sound community mental health tools without needing a technical computer science background.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Systematically review, format, and de-identify longitudinal counseling transcripts collected from community screening sites.

  • Lead isolation of explicit symptoms, social determinants, expression of distress, and map relations between them.

  • Triangulate clinical session inferences with data gathered from community Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and expert anthropological workshops.

  • Format extracted behavioral and structural nodes to help build the project's Hierarchical Causal Knowledge Graph.

  • Assist in regular bias audits to ensure the documented data paths do not oversimplify client distress or miss crucial psychiatric referral flags.

  • Coordinate with lived-experience advocacy networks to validate that terms are mapped in a non-stigmatizing, culturally respectful manner.
