Job Context:
∎ Project Brief: "Pathways to Equitable Healthy Cities" is a multicounty project that aims to influence sustainable changes in urban cities` (London, Beijing Vancouver, and Accra, and Dhaka) environment and improve the health scenario. In Dhaka, the project will review the environmental and socioeconomic factors that influence health and well-being of its population and identify governance, technology, innovation and practices that contribute to the present scenario. Models will then be developed and applied on urban dwellers` health inequality scenarios in accordance to socioeconomic and environmental parameters for alternative urban development pathways. The processes will involve government and non-governmental stakeholder collaborations and eventually yield a participatory policy co-production programme.
∎ We are looking for a Research fellow/ Senior Research Fellow, preferably with background knowledge of GIS and statistical or econometric analysis to join the research team and lead the ongoing multisectoral research activities under the scope of the project. The Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow will report to the PI and the Co-PI.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Be responsible for providing overall supervision and leadership support to research team in different research activities
∎ Write and review manuscripts, research reports, research proposals, ethical review applications, grant proposal submissions, etc.
∎ Use and apply the following software/programme to support research team
∎ a) ARCGIS
∎ b) QGIS (Quantum GIS)
∎ c) ERDAS IMAGINE | Hexagon Geospatial
∎ d) Google Earth Pro
∎ e) Stata, R, SPSS etc.
∎ Use geographic or location-based data for mapping and analyze collected spatial and GIS data for generating reports
∎ Understand and apply remote sensing in urban modelling and machine learning
∎ Carry out advanced quantitative analysis and/or qualitative analysis using standard statistical packages
∎ Present findings of the research in large forums and attend national and international conferences to discuss the research findings
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years of relevant research experience, including substantial experiences of dealing with spatial data, large scale survey data, simulation, and spatial modeling
∎ At least 2 publications in a peer reviewed journal
∎ Strong knowledge on advanced research methodology, data availability and GIS at national and international scale
∎ Team player who can work under pressure and time constraints of projects
∎ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
