Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English
∎ Essential University Degree in English or any equivalent discipline. Certification in any English Language Testing System would be an asset.
∎ Degree in Health Science would be an asset.
∎ Professional Training in Translating.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Performing professional written and oral interpretation and translation activities according to supervisor’s specialisation ensuring medical confidentiality, neutrality and respect towards patients, collaborators, authorities, military factions and MSF staff.
∎ Ensuring that supervisor is aware of cultural nuances when dealing with counterparts to ensure a good working relationship. Educating supervisor on effective methods of culturally sensitive communication and informing international staff about local customs, tradition, etc. that will help in better communication and understanding of the context.
∎ Provide live translation support (BD to EN, and EN to BD) to the International Staff Nurse Team Supervisor (NTS) in all her interactions with patients, caregivers, MSF medical staff, and the medical staff of referral medical faciities. This will require translation of complex medical terminology.
∎ Provide contextual/cultural explanations as needed, to support the NTS in her understanding of the Bangladeshi culture, and common medical practices in local facilities or the surrounding community.
∎ As requested, provide written translation support in Bengali to English, or English to Bengali, or Chittagonian to English and English to Chittagonian.
∎ This position will require frequent travel, including overnight stays, in Ukhiya, Chittagong, and surrounding areas.
∎ Provide other translation support to the medical department or other departments in Cox Coordination as needed.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Only females are allowed to apply
∎ Essential at least two years previous translation experience
∎ Desirable in MSF or other NGOs in similar position.
∎ Knowledge of the medical referral system is a advantage
∎ Experience in written and oral translations and performing administrative tasks
∎ Experience working with international colleagues is strongly desired
Salary:
∎ Tk. 47477 - 56972 (Monthly)
∎ Salary according to level 5 of the internal MSF salary grid, which is 47,477 BDT gross. Two annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents.
