Mahideb Jubo Somaj Kallayan Somity (MJSKS) is a non-profit making community development organization situated in the northern Bangladesh. The organization is registered with the Social Welfare Department and NGO Affairs Bureau of the Bangladesh government. Since 1972, the organization has been serving the poor and extreme poor with special focus on the char (River Island) and attached char inhabitants (men, women, persons with disability, youth, children and adolescents) in different areas through several program initiatives.
Mahideb Jubo Somaj Kallayan Somity (MJSKS), in collaboration with WaterAid Bangladesh. is implementing the project titled “Civil Society Leadership in Mobilizing for Better WASH (CLIMB)”. The program aims to strengthen and improve WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services for poverty-driven vulnerable communities through a structured and sustainable approach. Throughout the implementation period, the project focuses on strengthening local ownership, building institutional capacity, and integrating WASH priorities into government planning and budgeting processes. This comprehensive approach will help ensure that the project’s achievements are sustained beyond its implementation period.

MJSKS is looking for a qualified Project Officer (PO) for the said project
Job Nature: Full-time up to the project period based on performance
Job location: Chilmari upazila under Kurigram District.
Reporting to: Project Manager.
Key responsibility:
Responsible for all program planning and implementation activities at upazila level.
Management and monitoring of program staff and their activities
Organize Project kick-off meeting at district level with key stakeholders, Inception Meeting at Upazila and Union Level
Organize ToT of CSOs to facilitate sub-national dialogue on LLA planning for CSO project team
Organize ToT of CSOs on LLA, PWVA, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles
Civil society have effective knowledge management, evidence generation and storytelling that enables impactful campaigning
Provide training to CSOs on knowledge management, evidence generation and storytelling,
Collection and documentation of Stories to generate evidence on climate-centric WASH deprivation Community-led initiatives
Build leadership on WASH, climate and health matters, focusing on women’s leadership on women’s health
Activate relevant standing committees of Union Parishads (UPs) by CSOs to oversee LLA planning,
Development of locally-led adaptation plans at the Ward level through Participatory WASH
Support development and implementation of multi-year planning process at Union Parishad level.
Strengthen functionality of UP-level standing committees for climate-resilient and gender- inclusive WASH.
National Dissemination of Field Evidence and LLA Plans with Duty Bearers.
Support in facilitating open budget process at union parishad level by CSOs.
Organize validation and sharing workshop
Organize learning workshop at the end of the Project
Coordination of climate resilient livelihood opportunities
Administrative and transparent financial management
Coordination with local administration ensuring government services for marginalized communities.
Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid driving licence.
Showcasing LLA Evidence in Global Platforms to Influence WASH and Climate Agendas.

Civil society amplifies the voices of rights holders to claim and secure their rights.
Civil society effectively holds duty bearers accountable to deliver on their WASH, climate and health commitments.
Decision-makers commit to gender-responsive and climate resilient WASH policies
Decision-makers commit to increased and improved gender responsive and climate-resilient WASH financing.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure timely and quality implementation of project activities across the six unions of Chilmari Upazila to achieve the project outcomes, outputs, targets, and indicators.
Coordinate and strengthen partnerships with Union Parishads, Upazila Administration, WatSan Committees, relevant government departments, civil society organisations (CSOs), community-based organisations (CBOs), media, and other stakeholders.
Facilitate capacity strengthening of CSOs, community leaders, and local institutions on climate-resilient WASH, locally led adaptation (LLA), advocacy, accountability, gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), and organisational development.
Support the formation, strengthening, and effective functioning of community platforms, local leadership groups, and Union Parishad Standing Committees related to WASH, climate change, and health governance.
Ensure quality implementation of Participatory WASH Vulnerability Assessments (PWVA), community-led adaptation planning, budget tracking initiatives, policy advocacy activities, and accountability mechanisms.
Promote meaningful participation and leadership of women, youth, ethnic minority communities (including Santal, Oraon, and Munda communities), and other marginalised groups in project activities and decision-making processes.
Lead evidence generation, documentation of lessons learned, preparation of policy briefs, success stories, case studies, and knowledge products for advocacy and learning purposes.
Facilitate community-government dialogues, public hearings, open budget sessions, advocacy meetings, and stakeholder consultations to strengthen accountability and responsive governance.
Coordinate media engagement, public awareness campaigns, and communication initiatives related to climate-resilient and gender-responsive WASH.
Ensure effective monitoring, data quality assurance, reporting, and learning systems are in place and that project progress is regularly reviewed against agreed indicators and targets.
Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organisational policies, safeguarding standards, financial procedures, and risk management protocols.
Provide supportive supervision, mentoring, and performance management to project staff and foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
Lead sustainability, institutionalisation, and phase-out planning to ensure local ownership of project achievements by CSOs, community institutions, Union Parishads, and relevant government stakeholders.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager in the interest of the project.
The candidate should have good knowledge on safeguarding (Child Protection, Gender, and Anti-Sexual Harassment), PSHEA issues, persons with disability inclusion, social protection, and complaint response and feedback mechanism
Salary: Monthly gross salary Tk. 38000/- possibility of yearly salary increment maximum 5-10% with 1 festival bonus (equivalent one-month gross salary)
