Responsibilities & Context:

Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) is going to implement the “strengthening local leadership to promote resilience, recovery and effective response for the vulnerable communities in Sylhet region and other districts in Bangladesh Project” funded by USAID through Save the Children. Project Duration- October 2024 to December 2024.

The “Project Officer- Livelihood and Business Development” will oversee and implement initiatives focused on restoring livelihoods and strengthening community resilience to hydrometeorological hazards. This role involves coordinating cash grants, skill development programs, and awareness campaigns while enhancing early warning systems and disaster response strategies. The “Project Officer- Livelihood and Business Development” will collaborate with local disaster management committees and stakeholders to ensure effective risk assessments, training, and resource mobilization for sustainable community development. H/She will report to the Project Coordinator.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure technical support to the field facilitators, regular field visit and follow-up the activities.

  • Providing Training/Orientation/Refreshers to the programme participants.

  • Dissemination of agricultural technologies and business development to the farmer’s field.

  • Programme participants selection according to the criteria. Preparation and cost benefit reports and other project reports.

  • Perform awareness raising and capacity building activities

  • Distribution of cash grants and IEC materials for climate adaptive activities

  • Managing relationships with most vulnerable HHs, Youth, Volunteers, School Children and other stakeholders to ensure delivery of the programme outputs at field level

  • Develop strategic partnership and networks with the relevant stakeholders at field level.

  • Provide support in overall implementation, monitoring and reporting of field level programme activities

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

MAJOR CHALLENGES:

  • Need to implement the initiatives in the hard to reach areas

  • Implementation of activities within the time frame

  • Maintaining compliance and ensuring quality of the project activities.
